Still lot of work to do, but '06 could be a strong democratic year

There is lots of work to do, and we can't take things for granted especially due to rigged elections, but I think the GOP is going to be demoralized. Democrats are doing well in recruitments, and the issues are turning against the majority party in congress and the white house which traditionally doesn't bode well for that party in midterm elections. Here are the major issues:

1) The continuing war in Iraq and the increasing unpopularity of that war.

2) High Gas Prices--I honestly think that this is the major issue hurting Republicans the most at this point because everybody can feel the pinch.

3) Ethics and Corruption--this is finally catching up to the GOP, and the Delay indictment is the latest example, but we also have Rovegate and Fristgate, among other examples.

4) The Economy overall--Hurricane Katrina is going to have a huge impact on the national economy for some time. Last month Consumer Confidence fell dramatically.

5) The unpopularity of pResident Bush--when a president declines in approval ratings (and several polls put Bush in the 30's) it hurts congressional candidates of the president's party--and also hinders fund raising. Also, the American people, I think, are waking up to the fact that this administration doesn't connect with average people and Katrina proved that Bush doesn't care if Americans live or die. They see his continuous travels to the Gulf for what it is, staged photo-ops.

All of this, hopefully, can lead to dramatic gains for the Democrats in Congress and hopefully we can see a realignment like there was in '94 when the GOP rode the currents against a democratic congress which many felt was corrupt--and take back the House and Senate. If we do that--Democrats can really begin to investigate the Bush scandals.

But we can't just hope these things pan out we must all work agressively to get out the vote and hopefully depress the GOP vote.

with all this,but for some reason the honest Dems and Repugs are still letting the neocons count the votes in secret. If we were to count our own votes, yes your plan will work out.
