"I have done nothing unlawful." http://www.cnn.com

Can you believe this guy parses his words like this? Not, that he hasn't done anything WRONG. NO NO NO, but that he hasn't done anything UNLAWFUL.

What a prick!

2. "or unprecedented", he said
I remember diehards reaching back into history to show "Democrats have done the same or worse" when the wheels were coming off the Nixon administration. Didn't work then, won't now.

down, down, down goes Mr. Delay!

This guy is a caricature for a politician. Bad toupe', above the law (he thinks)

I love this country. Private England is going to jail and God willing, so will DeLay.

We don't always do everything right, but damn it, we work at it. Good times will come again.

4. There was a thread with the opposite view yesterday:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2118209
Frist didn't say he didn't do anything unlawful, just didn't engage in wrongdoing.

If DeLay said he didn't do anything wrong, it's squishy: wrong by who's standards? And if he's found guilty, well, there're arguably things that are illegal that aren't wrong. At least by saying unlawful, he's committing to a specific outcome of the trial.

Is 'unlawful' really the same as 'illegal'?
