Hail to the Chief (last night's premier)
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 05:51 PM by dsc
highlighted Kerry's biggest mistake the attempt to get McCain to run with him against Bush. At the time, the big problem was that McCain said no. But the real problem would have been if Kerry had said yes, as shown last night. Davis' character was named running mate by a very conservative Republican to help his rep with women but then he dies and the at least moderate Davis takes over. The VP is an elected office and thus had its own legitimacy. Kerry and McCain agreed on virtually nothing. McCain had nearly a 100% rating from pro life and anti gay groups with the only flaw from their perspective being his support of McCain Feingold (he has since opposed a federal anti same sex marriage amendment). McCain is against most government spending, supported virtually every appointee of Bush's, supported Bush's first tax cut, supported Bush's war, in short he is at least a standard conservative Republican. Had he accepted Kerry's offer and something had happened to Kerry we would have had a competent, honorable, but conservative President who would have done more to promote Bush's agenda than Kerry's. This would have been a total disaster.

VPs matter more than as a ladder to get power. We can't let our nominee even consider such a huge mistake in 2008.

On edit The show was very well done, and having the return of Kyle Sector to series TV can only be a good thing. The premise is a bit unbelievable and it may well go overboard on the evil Sutherland character but so far it is good.

2. I really enjoyed it
At first I wasn't going to watch it but then I decided "why not?" and it was pretty good. The woman character is very intelligent and takes control. It was great! You should try to download a torrent or something to see it. I enjoyed it. :) It's going to be a good show. I'm just glad it isn't on the same night as "West Wing" though.

4. I agree. Geena Davis is one of the best!
I missed the show last night, but I'll make sure I catch it next week.

I also missed Boston Legal. I'm disappointed that ABC moved the show to Tuesday nights against nip/Tuck. Looks like I'll be taping one of these shows every week.

6. I only watched a tiny bit but enjoyed the gibe at Bush
She was sitting listening to a bunch of elementary school students (French, no less!) when they politely came and got her to hit her with the news. And she ACTUALLY GOT UP AND LEFT - and the kids weren't all freaked out. Loved the subtlety. But then I switched to the Dylan thing.

9. Wasn't it "America the Beautiful" in French?
that's what it sounded like to me.

10. Exactly - except that the freepomaniacs would be claiming
that it was something totally anti-American - since it was the French singing it.
