I don't know her, why should I care?

OK, back to my usual compassion. A few years ago, this girl I went to college with, Durissa, took off and shacked up with some guy that she met on the internet. Problem was, she didn't tell ANYONE where she was going, or even that she was leaving at all. Rumors abounded across campus about her whereabouts, but no one seemed to know anything.

So, one day I was sitting at a friend's house, and CNN was on. Wouldn't you know it, across the ticker at the bottom of the screen I read, "West Liberty State College student Durissa X has been missing for four days." I nearly shit myself. My friends and I were STUNNED. The general consensus was, "This is national news?" Long story short, she got in touch with her family the next day, everything was fine, and I learned an invaluable lesson about corporate media priorities and ethics.
