3. And it's full of footage no ones ever seen!
We can do it again, you know...

This single show has restored my faith in humanity, by telling how many CAN change the world. And much of what we wanted to change back then (yes- i was a teenager then) is happening again- only worse.

We gotta get movin', people!

37. What a great idea, Cynatnite!
I know that if someone organized it it would be a sold out concert. They would have to have more than one show, I think. Sounds like just what we all need to replenish our energy when many of us feel ,sometimes, so impotent.

6. This program is excellent!
Are the repugs loosening their grip on PBS ? This is the PBS I remember from days of old. I have refused to contribute to PBS recently because they turned into Propoganda Bull Shit. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out. I may just donate again if they finish pulling their heads out of corporate ass. Great history being shown tonight.

Tracey Chapman Talkin' bout a Revolution (sounds like a whisper). Can you feel the real love from these conscious music makers? They sing heartsongs. Only the most callous do not recognize their sincerity.

12. Hard to believe.
It seems that there would be more participation on this thread on this progressive site. Just think, this show is all about progression and many people have access to it. There are many people who cannot afford cable or dish tv who have free access to such an important record of musical protest.

26. Crying watching "ohio"
this was the moment when I became a liberal. 17 years old and shocked that my age group was being assasinated. No wonder I am what I am.

30. I was in 8th grade when Kent Stae Massacre happened...
we walked into the history class first thing the next morning and the teacher (working on a defermernt) had a newspaper on each desk. "After you read the headline and article I want you to turn to page 78 in your history books and tell me what these wto stories have in common." It was the Boston Massacre-

Anti-taxation protest and the crowd threw snowballs at the redcoats and they in turn fired into the crowd killing four.

Anti-war protest and the crowd threw rocks at the Ohio National Guard and they in turn fired into the crowd killing four.

The teacher followed that up with the Santana quote: "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it".

Brilliant.

I wish they played more of the songs before going to commentary.

I mean you can't hear just 20 seconds of a Bob Marley performance!

39. Yeah, it was great!
But I noticed that the power of music to uplift people in to a movement that could change society seemed to be petering out by the end of the show...even though their were some musicians still trying.

I think music is going to change in order to be as effective as it was again...and the change is already happening on the internet. A site where you can hear some of that is the Peace Jukebox: http://www.peace-not-war.org/Jukebox/

Also, the trend is getting into general indie OMD's like http://artistlaunch.com and http://soundclick.com It's a real problem that we don't have as an effective an EARTH-WIDE musical forum as mp3.com used to be. When mp3.com went under in 2003, we were just beginining to politicize it progressively, but it's shear internationalism made it a force for global peace love and understanding. And it seperated itself from the worst aspects of corporate pop from the get-go. What are some of your current favorite online destinations for new music???
