15. Joe McCarthy was an opportunist who "red baited"...

many on the left by accusing them of being Communists in the early 50's. He finally was shot down in flames before the whole nation. His nickname was "tail gunner Joe" because I guess he did that in the war and because a tail gunner was not thought of as being very heroic.
