I think, when I was in Nashville a long time ago, that Congressman Harold Ford Sr. was under indictment. He took a long time to defend himself, and while the trial was ongoing, he had to give up his Sub- Committee Chairmanship. He was finally cleared of all charges and once he was found innocent, we was able to regain the chairmanship.

On edit, the lie is that she keeps insisting that the Democrats did not have a rule that leadership has to step aside. I think Congressman Ford was part of the leadership.
