Did Anybody At The S.F. Protest Have A Problem With The March ??? |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-28-05 11:53 PM by WillyT
I took my 76 year old mother, met up with many fantastic DUers, and we all seemed to have a wonderful time. There was NOT ONE negative word among any of us about A.N.S.W.E.R. or the various speeches related to the various causes. Not one.
Is this an East Coast\West Coast thing? Is it cause the Bay Area is located in the land of fruits and nuts? Is it because we've always excepted Communist\Socialist tendencies here without so much as a 'Bye your leave".
Or is it just that were are excruciatingly hip?
Just wondering.
:rofl::evilgrin::rofl:
Perhaps we're just ahead of our time.
Edited for clarity. I hope, LOL!

2. I think this ANSWER "situation" is being overblown |
|
I returned from a weekend away from news, and all I heard about from my "mainstream (read: not as politically aware as they could be)," was about how hundreds of thousands marched on Washington opposing the war, and how the prowar side only had 100-200.
No one I know is talking about ANSWER, or any other objectionable group that might have been there. Bottom line: good show guys, and don't worry about ANSWER, no one else (but the right wing talkies) is.

6. The Seattle (ANSWER organized) demo was also a great success. |
|
And nobody, participants or the media, seemed to care one way or the other, who had done all the logistics. I thank them for the work they did, and I appreciate especially the fact that that the roles of racism and monopoly (imperialist) capitalism were not ignored by the speakers.

8. The real genius of ANSWER is in their inclusiveness. |
|
I'm used to it now but remember that it bothered me -- to have a message that seemed so diluted.
Now I know to expect everyone and their granny gets mic time. Really, if you think about it, it a beautiful thing. It's like a poetry slam.
You have to be pretty brave to keep doing that, no matter what.
