A Very Blarney (Suck-up) Interview with Tweety
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 09:51 AM by UTUSN
Tweety's personality is "engaging"? Plus, DUH, Tweety, you were RIGHT about the NeoCons' WANTING this war?-----wow, you and 70,000 DUers who did NOT beat the war drum the way YOU did. (& please, no posts about how anti-war Tweety was.) And, DUH, Tweety, you were hard-on-CLINTON------no shit!----and this is supposed to prove you are EQUALLY hard on everybody?---------uh, NO, that's the point, you have done nothing but embarrassingly eroticize Shrub.

Cult hero Matthews plays hardball across the board
By Niall Stanage
nstanage@irishecho.com

.... Matthews's engaging on-air penchant for tangential remarks also remained intact in person. A question about the prevalence of Irish Americans in the news media was interrupted as soon as the name of Norah O'Donnell, MSNBC's telegenic Chief White House Correspondent, was invoked:

"Ohhhh, Norah O'Donnell!" Matthews erupted in a paroxysm of delight. "Inn't she somethin'? She's somethin' else. She's the pride of the island. She's 100 percent Irish. Both parents are immigrants, I think. The parents look nothing like her, I must say." ....

...Nowhere was this gloominess more apparent than in relation to the war in Iraq.

"I just think it is not in America's interest, and I've said that in as many ways as you can say it in my questioning of people," he noted.

"I was right about the people pushing the war -- like Bill Kristol and Wolfowitz and those guys. The neoconservatives. They wanted this war and I was right about that. I didn't realize they were going to be so successful. It was ideology that led us to this war, very right-wing policies towards the Middle East." ....

"I have to be equally hardball with everybody," Matthews insisted, "and I tend to be. I was very tough on President Clinton." ....

Chris Matthews may be more of an observer than a participant in the game of politics these days. But it's difficult to stifle the thought that when he talks about the desire to be "a winner in a good cause" he is really talking about himself.

1. My E-mail to Mr STANAGE
(We call him Tweety because of his choice of hair coloring.)

I would quibble that Tweety's personality is "engaging". But on points of more substance, Tweety claims to have been "right" about the NeoCons WANTING this war. Big deal. The NeoCons' nefarious doings were a common topic on internet discussion boards. His claiming this SPECIFIC point of "being right" finesses away how he loudly and relentlessly beat the war drums in the run-up to the war, how he evicerated Phil DONAHUE on DONAHUE's own show for his "Liberalness" and anti-war positions.

As for Tweety claiming to be equally hard on EVERYONE, he uses as an example of this that he was very hard on CLINTON---------well, that's the point: He has done nothing but be hard on ONE side, his supposedly Democratic Party side (he voted for BUSH), while being PUFFBALL with any and all Republicans appearing on his circus. As for his treatment of BUSH himself, Tweety has literally acted like a latent homosexual, drooling over BUSH in his blue jeans and over BUSH in the flight suit and over BUSH's BULGE.
