Former USMC media guy (Lt. Josh Rushing) joins the Al-Jazeera network !!
Does anybody recall Lt Josh Rushing USMC in the documentary "Control Room"?

He upped and left the Corps, and he's now working for the Al-Jazeera network:

Rushing, 33, has taken a job reporting for a new channel for Al-Jazeera. That's the Qatar-based network that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said is "perfectly willing to lie to the world" and has "a pattern of playing propaganda over and over and over again" for its 50 million viewers, most of them in the Arab world.

Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly branded it a "propaganda network ... bent on encouraging violence and sympathetic to terrorists." And Iraq's new government temporarily closed the network's offices in Baghdad, saying that Al-Jazeera incites insurgents by showing video of attacks and statements from Osama bin Laden and his deputies.

But Rushing, who will appear on a global, English-language news channel the network hopes to start by spring, considers his decision to work for Al-Jazeera noble, not seditious. "I've given my entire adult life to the health and well-being of this nation," Rushing says. "I wouldn't do anything to threaten that.

"What the Marines trained me to do was to represent the best of what America stands for to a foreign audience. That's exactly what I'm going to do."

1. Thanks
You could really see his eyes opening during that film. Good for him.

I'm sure he'll be labelled a terrorist and traitor by the people destroying our country.

2. Where he may be joined by Tony Blair's sister-in-law
Blair's Sister in Law Backs Al Jazeera

TONY BLAIR'S sister-in-law Lauren Booth is set to appear on controversial Arabic TV station Al Jazeera.

In today's Mail on Sunday she explains why she may work for what critics describe as 'Bin Laden's favourite channel'.
...
But Ms Booth says the station presents news 'from a wider global perspective'.

She would most probably appear on Al Jazeera International, to be broadcast in English from next March. The station has already recruited Mark Seddon, onetime editor of Leftwing Tribune.

3. Wow! I remember him very well! I really liked him and was so thankful
that there was someone like him to represent us. I also think he grew from his experience in Iraq. I think he saw first-hand what was going on and though he had to stay in line with the message somewhat that he was working hard to be fair.

I remember seeing him in an interview right after he had left the Marines. He said his wife had been talking about the documentary and I got the feeling she wasn't a big supporter of the war (he didn't say that directly)but basically the Higher-ups contacted him and told him he needed to get his wife to shut-up (my word, can't remember enough to quote him)and that was the straw that broke the camels back.

My hero in that movie is Haseem (not sure about spelling, but I think that was his name) The Iraqi reporter who was married to the woman from Israel. I remember him saying in the movie that in time that it would be the American people that would stop this war. That we would stand up and do what is right. I wish I could tell him not to give up on us because we are still here and we are trying to stop the death and destruction.

What's so funny is that Al-Jazeera, which is labeled the the propaganda network, etc, had by far the best and most objective documentary that I have ever seen about the Iraq "war". See Control Room first and then see Gunner Palace. It is good and seems to be very objective as well.

So you think we will be able to get the English version of Al-Jazeera here in the US?

6. I'm confused
Is Bill talking about Fox news here?

Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly branded it a "propaganda network ... bent on encouraging violence and sympathetic to terrorists."
