Aerial Pics from DC
Sorry about the misleading title, i actually don't have any pics but am looking for some aerial pics. There was a helicopter flying over the march for quite a while on Saturday, there has to be pics.
Anybody??
How about a blown up satellite image from that day
I tried google images, to no avail.

1. Given the restricted airspace over DC, I doubt you will find any.
And it's HIGHLY doubtful that that was a media helicopter you saw.

2. The only really good view of the march I saw was a short clip on
CNN Headliner News Saturday evening. They showed the streets below, jammed with people. Never saw it again.

6. Hi leftupnorth!
I saw that helicopter, too. It was the only one (I think) and was up there for most of the march....

Welcome to DU!!

9. i thought that chopper was odd because it IS restricted
Airspace, but it was flying right over the WH. Must have been a gov't chopper.

thanks for the welcome!

10. That was my thought, too. Did you
notice that it went away for a little while and then came back? (Either that or I stopped paying attention to it for a bit!)

13. no i guess i didn't
we had to go after standing in the street waiting to move for 4 hrs, my unpolitical friend who has adhd at 28, was acting like a ten year old. needless to say, it was time to go and i'll NEVER take him anywhere ever again - at least not until he can learn to recognize that his behavior is not ok and learn to control himself.....

sorry for the tangent

don't get me wrong i still had a blast and i'm still high from it!!
i want to do it again!!

15. We will rarely see aerial photos of these things.
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 09:04 PM by ocelot
Aside from the fact that DC is a restricted area, there are some post-9/11 FAA rules that prevent flights over any large public gathering. These are called TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions). Another kind of TFR prevents flights over any area where the president or VP is, within 30 miles.

As an aside, if you want to know where the Chimperor or FrankenCheney will be traveling, check here: http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html. They publish upcoming presidential TFRs so pilots know in advance where they can't fly.
