The power is back!!!
Nada since 7:30 Saturday morning, thank you Rita.

Lost quite a few trees, including a monster oak seventy feet tall with a trunk over four feet in diameter, and a gorgeous weeping willow. Roof is showing wood over less than half its surface.

All and all, we fared damned well.

But boy! Has it been hot. 105+ heat index every day until today, and not a running air conditioner in sight. At daybreak, the temp dropped, its been cloudy and cool (70's) all day, and then the power comes on.

I am _not_ complaining, by the way. :woohoo:

So what have I missed?? (I heard about Delay.)

2. Hurricane Jeanne last year left us for days without power.
It was very unnerving and so good to get back online for real news.

Welcome back, and no more hurricanes.

6. glad you are OK
Too bad about the oak - willows are messy, unless you need the water absorption.

8. Glad your power is back on!
I was really feeling for all of you without electricity with the sweltering heat we've been having in Texas the past few days. It was 113 where I am Monday BEFORE you factor in the heat index. UGH!

Did you see that Judith Miller is going to testify tomorrow yet? ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4929350 )That's a good story and then there's the fact that Larry Franklin will plead guilty next Wednesday. ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4928880 )

Glad you back and all is well with you and yours. :)

10. Arghh!
Stupid dial-up internet. I love living in a rural area, but boy real internet is fine. So I am giving up tring to read the board with storm damaged phone lines. I'm gonna actually sleep tonight instead of sweating 'til 4:00 am.

Thanks for the good wishes, and good night!
