Have you ever done anything of particular merit?
My husband and I went to DC on the 24th!

We're planning on cruisin' the largest OKC mall this weekend w/our anti-war t-shirts on just to make a statement. Our opinion is in the minority in freeperville-OK but we've developed this F-U attitude & energize each other w/the let's stir things up attitude.
:woohoo:

1. That's the spirit. As for me, I'm working on election reform in my state.
Would have been in DC but my mother's house took a hit from a storm on the 21st and trees hit her house and we had to go chop them down and remove them. Took three days of HARD labor but we got it done.
Thanks for being there for us!

3. It depends on what you mean by 'particular merit'...
Does it mean walking around in t-shirts hoping to engage someone who sees you and gets pissed off by what you're wearing?

What other ways do you believe would be of merit?

6. I volunteered for security at the U2 concert Sunday.
The toughest thing I had to do was step forward as Bono squeezed between me and the elliptical part of the stage so he could climb up onto the stage at the start of the show.

I booed Richard Nixon in 1974, 1 month before he resigned, shook
Jimmy Carters hand in 1975, and saw Bill Clinton speak in October 1992 in Jackson Mississippi 2 weeks before he beat Bush.

The only really significant thing I was involved in was back in the 1970's. The Mississippi Democratic party was split into 2 separate groups-the Regulars (white) and the Loyalists (black). I was a member of the state's chapter of the Young Democrats and we worked to bridge the gap between the two groups. When they finally merged in 1976, I like to think we played some small part.

9. My best day
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 12:13 AM by Ksec
We were at a popular swimming pool and this little girl had collapsed nearby.

I heard her Mother screaming and her Father was just freaked, standing there with his hands on his mouth just horrified. I ran over and discovered she was Not breathing. I was scared to death for her and I started CPR.

I dont know how long I was working on here but my next thought was a guy tapping me on my shoulder telling me they would take over. It was the EMTs who had arrived. They took her away and I saw her Father a few days later at the same place.

He came up and hugged me and thanked me. He said she had suffered a seizure from the heat and they were still doing tests to see if there was something else going on. I was so thankful that this little child had lived and her Dad thanking me was heartfelt. He said he panicked and couldn't move and the Mother was just screaming bloody murder.

It was a day Ill never forget. Probably the best thing Ive ever done. No not probably, definitely. My daughter still talks about this occasionally. My wife and two kids were there that day.

I am sterilized and won't be contributing to the overpopulation and overuse of the resources of the planet.

I have saved the lives of many animals and a couple of humans.

My research appears in the collections of libraries.

21. Yes, I've done my fair share
Worked as a volunteer firefighter, saved a few lives. Volunteered in a crisis counseling center, talked a few people out of suicide, helped many others with a hand up in life. Worked at a vetrinarian's office and the local Humane Society, don't know how many animals I've saved. Stopped abusive males from beating on their SO a couple of times, it helps to be a big guy. Taken a few neighbor kids under my wing when their parents weren't there for them do to drug addictions, work or some other reason.

Politically I've been active since I was nine years old. Protested Vietnam and Kent State, started working political campaigns in '72 with McGovern, and been working politics ever since, both local and national. Gotten arrested for a no nukes protest. Be working against this war since before it began.

I am a liberal in a very conservative county, but managed to deliver several dozen conservative votes to the Kerry campaign last election, a shame he didn't take advantage of them and follow through in Ohio. Still, I will be doing the neighbor thing, and persuading one voter at a time to wean themselves off of conservative politics.

Other than that, I try to be a good husband, a good person, a good neighbor, and a good stewart of the land.

22. Nothing major.
I also went to the rally, and I try to attend some of the local rallies when I can. I've rescued several stray animals and I feed the ones in my neighborhood that won't let me near them. I try to be good and kind to people, and to help those in need when I can.

to try to stop this fascist takeover (all of which I've done quite a lot of)? I foster homeless/sick cats and kittens in my home, and adopt them out at a local natural pet food store on the weekends.Recently our rescue raised thousands for Katrina pet rescue. We sent a medical team out to NOLA and brought back 40 animals to be fostered here in Central Florida. I think I raised about $8,000 personally and brought in two and a half cargo vans worth of donations (food/ supplies).

I also was an intern mentor at Disney Animation, and taught animation at a local college-both of those efforts had the end result of seeing quite a number of young people realize their dreams of becoming a professional animator and seeing their name in film credits (I've got a few of those myself).
