Man Found In Stolen Ambulance With Dead Deer
Edited on Fri Sep-30-05 11:54 PM by Gabi Hayes
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 29) - A man reported missing from a Florida hospital was found in North Carolina dressed like a doctor and driving a stolen ambulance with a dead deer wedged in the back, authorities said.

Leon Holliman Jr., 37, was reported missing from a River Region Human Services facility in Jacksonville last month.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol found him driving the ambulance with the deer on Sunday.

"I don't know how the man got it up in there," said Sgt. Robert Pearson. "It was a six point buck."

according to the radio, the deer had an oxygen mask on, and had an IV bottle attached

EDIT: video here, not of the deer or abductee, but it's still worth a click

8. Where can I get the radio conversation?
I was going to send this story to my family because of the line:

The deer had an oxygen mask on, and had an IV bottle attached

But it's not on either link.

14. they were reading from one of the stories online
I saw a mention of it in a link I posted, I think

it was a show out of Chicago, and somebody called it in; their producer pulled it up off the web, and they started talking about it

I looked it up, myself, as I have nothing better to do

20. now discussing actual Nobel Laureates serenading the
Ig Nobel Prize winner for inventing Karaoke

the Ig Nobel Prizes take place every year at Harvard, with real Nobel Prize winners presenting prizes for things like the previous two, as well as for studies on the impact of country music on suicides, the five second rule (if you pick food up off the floor within five seconds, it's OK to eat), and other junk

10. This is one of those local news stories that read like poetry.
"according to the radio, the deer had an oxygen mask on, and had an IV bottle attached."

The poetry is amazing, this psychiatric patient becomes a fugitive from the world of confinement, order and regulation... and in this journey northward (add underground railroad metaphor) and in this flight to freedom, his beautifully childlike naked soul played Good Samaritan and attempted to administer aid to this fellow casualty on the highway of life.

16. okay, first of all, two of these are especially funny.

obvious irony here...
Some Students Embarrassed By Dress Code T-Shirts

This one has a bit of dark humor.
Childless Woman Ticketed For Sitting At Playground

without reading the story, just by what you imagine from the headline... you imagine this woman forlorn that she is barren, not able to have children... and then, to kick her while she is down... she is ticketed for being somewhere where only "mothers" can be.

''The combover patent -- complete with instructional diagrams -- was meant to allow Frank to bill himself as the father of the hairstyle and better sell a spray he developed to hold it in place, his son said. They never got around to producing the spray, but they did receive an Ig Nobel.''
