Gr. jury foreman: Stacks and stacks of paper, phonecalls from Delay
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/texassouthwest/stories/100105dntexdelay.20c896f8.html

Grand jurors were presented a load of evidence, including testimony and phone records, that led them to believe Rep. Tom DeLay should be tried on a conspiracy charge, the leader of the Travis County grand jury that indicted the congressman said Friday.

"It was not one of those sugarcoated deals that we handed to Ronnie Earle," William M. Gibson said. He added: "Mr. Earle has stacks and stacks of papers – evidence of telephone calls from Mr. DeLay and everybody."

At the heart of the conspiracy charge against Mr. DeLay is whether he knew about the transaction. Experts on Texas law say that knowledge alone might be all that is needed for a conviction under state law.

<snip>

Mr. DeLay "just gave a statement saying he did nothing. And he didn't know how that money got back down here and all that stuff," Mr. Gibson said. "We believe different from other paperwork we got."

1. Gibson violated grand jury secrecy?
Are the laws different in Texas? In New York, jurors can't talk.

3. Do they still have to maintain secrecy after they're dismissed?

I just confused the two juries. Fitz's and Earle's.

So far as I know, grand jurors are NEVER allowed to talk. That's why you never see books about Inside the Grand Jury of some spectacular case.

That's why I'm wondering about why this guy feels free to talk.

2. Hmmm...... wonder if the republications heard that.

Paperwork.

Hmmmm........

Sounds like some physical evidence to me.

8. Wonder if their hard drives were confiscated??
Abramoff and his cronies had their emails splashed across the web....deals were discussed, hundreds of thousands of $$ talked about like it was pocket change, etc. It was pages and pages of arrogance. Guess they felt pretty confident just chatting amongst themselves.
Files and emails may be full of references to Delay. There were **lots** of companies involved, they could have handed over all alot of electronic correspondences that were exchanged between their money people and Delay's cronies.
