Just thought Bill Bennett and Bay Buchanan might want to know this. FBI stats for 2002.

"In 2002, males comprised 77.0 percent of all arrestees. Males also accounted for 82.6 percent of those arrested for violent crimes and 69.3 percent of those arrested for property crimes. The offenses for which males were most often arrested were drug abuse violations and driving under the influence.

The number of females arrested in 2002 increased 2.1 percent from the 2001 number. The offense for which females were most often arrested was larceny-theft.

By race, 70.7 percent of all arrestees in 2002 were white. The offense for which whites were arrested most often was driving under the influence. The offense for which blacks were arrested most often was drug abuse violations."

So it looks like we should abort white male babies and that would just about do it for crime prevention.

6. Yep. And NO statistic can tell you who actually commits crimes.

I used to wrok retail, and we would hire people to give us anti-shoplifting lessons. Every one started off with the "fact" that blacks shoplift more than whites, so that you should watch black customers more than whites. They would cite arrest and conviction stats to back it up.

What they left off was how most shoplifitings go undetected. Merchandise disappears, stores assume the items are shoplifted, and only rarely does someone get caught.

In other words, they had no idea who was doing most of the shoplifting.

I did my own experiment (being a bit of a rebel). I refused to watch black customers, and focused on white. In a little less than a year, my crew of between 8 to 20 (depending on shopping season) caught 4 black shoplifters and one Hispanic shoplifter. Three of the black shoplifters were prosecuted, one got away before security could get there. The Hispanic woman was also prosecuted. During the same time, I caught four shoplifters myself. All were white. None fit any of the stereotypes we were trained to watch for. In every case, the white shoplifters got away, either because I couldn't get the store manager to call security in time, or in one case because the store manager had just sold the shoplifter an expensive item and did not want to risk her returning it. We recovered the items in all four cases, but the shoplifters went free, never becoming statistics.

So, one employee catches four white shoplifters, the other dozen or so catch four black shoplifters in the same time frame.

That's the stat that no one can measure, and most people seem unable to even grasp. Conviction rates, prison rates, and even arrest rates don't take into account that the entire system works to get blacks arrested more often than whites for the same crimes.

Now I am in NO WAY defending any racist (which the bastards all are to some degree) but we can not try and deny that the crime rates among innercity blacks is much higher than that of the general population because of socio-economics and the psychology of dispossession and disenfranchisement, the disparity of wealth and the desperation of poverty, etc.

The fact is that that 70% white figure includes hispanics (hispanic is not racial category and most are categorized as "Hispanic whites" (a few as Hispanic African Americans and HIspanic Native Americans).

The fact is that 13-14% of the population is African American so that would around twice the rate of arrests as whites.

But of course this not an excuse for ANY malicious racist comments. So don't flame me. I just think it is necessary if when we engage in this discussion to be aware of the reality.

Even if that includes Hispanics, blacks do not commit the majority of crimes, so Bennett and Bay Buchanan are wrong.

said "blacks commit the majority of crimes?" then that would be an outright lie but it can not be denied that the crime RATE among blacks is considerably higher than the crime RATE of whites/general population.
