OMG - My DU Post gets on Freerepublic!
What a riot. It starts out like they are debunking me "DUmmies unable to read a CALENDAR!" and the last poster agrees with me Actually, I don't know if the DUmmies are quoting the wrong document on this particular issue, but from looking at all the documents available at both the White House and Louisiana governor's website, it looks like the DUmmies premise may be correct.

8. LOL - It's called know what your opposition knows. We are trying to
figure out how and why Michael Brown so blatantly lied under oath at the Katrina hearing. He said Blanco excluded NOLA when asking for disaster assistance. That is why Bush's declaration only had the northern parishes on it

We have not been able to find anything to prove what he is saying is true. And I figure if the freepers can't find it, no one can....

7. OK - Attn: Lurking Freepers - Put up or shut up !!

If you have ANY documented evidence that Blanco requested disaster assistance for ONLY THE NORTHERN parishes (i.e. the parishes FEMA and Bush used in their erroneous document) please make it available..

13. From the governor's office
http://www.gov.state.la.us/Press_Release_detail.asp?id=976

The President
The White House
Washington, D. C.

Through:
Regional Director
FEMA Region VI
800 North Loop 288
Denton, Texas 76209

Dear Mr. President:

Under the provisions of Section 501 (a) of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, 42 U.S.C. §§ 5121-5206 (Stafford Act), and implemented by 44 CFR § 206.35, I request that you declare an emergency for the State of Louisiana due to Hurricane Katrina for the time period beginning August 26, 2005, and continuing. The affected areas are all the southeastern parishes including the New Orleans Metropolitan area and the mid state Interstate I-49 corridor and northern parishes along the I-20 corridor that are accepting the thousands of citizens evacuating from the areas expecting to be flooded as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

That's part of a letter from Governor Blanco's office to Bush, and New Orleans is most definitely mentioned.

10. I saved a copy of that soon-to-be-deleted posting
If I was a Freeper, I'd be mighty critical of Bush's performance myself. But I'm not a Freeper.

There actually are Conservatives who are not violent zombies with GOP buttons, and drjimmy may be one of them. (Or, he may be a troll, but I can hope, can't I?) I'm sure Blanco and Nagin could have done a better job here and there, but as I've written several times, the law is quite clear -- disaster management is a FEDERAL responsibility, and whining that Gov. Blanco didn't submit the request on the right colored form (I think the actual argument is that she should have submitted a SECOND official request) won't cut it.

The neo-con movement is dying. Wild beasts generally struggle when they are dying. Expect more trouble -- they have nothing to give but tears, blood, vomit, and diarrhea.

15. A freeper, Adam Wood, replied, "The reason that the southern parishes...
...were excluded was because this was a positioning order."

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1492322/posts?page=10#10

Wrong, Adam.

The August 27 declaration was, in Bush's own words intended, "to save lives, protect property and public health and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the parishes of Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard...."

It excluded Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, etc., and it wasn't about naming the parishes where relief was to be positioned. But, as usual, freepers can't read.

19. Good find. The only problem with this theory is that Brownie
already said, under oath, that the prez's order of 7-27 was wrong because Blanco supplied FEMA with the wrong parishes.

Funny thing about those facts, huh?
