I know reports of dog shootings in New Orleans...
I know reports of dog shootings in New Orleans have been discussed here before, but I hadn't seen this latest one yet.

On Thursday night's Aaron Brown, Anderson Cooper reported on a couple groups of dogs that were found shot in 2 separate buildings. 50 to 100 shell casings were apparently found at one site. Speculation is Law Enforcement (maybe Blackhawk?).

Transcript from CNN

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0509/29/asb.02.html

2/3 of the way down the page...starts off with:

COOPER: Welcome back from Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi. You know, we've done a lot of stories over the last few days on -- actually the last few weeks I should say -- on animals abandoned and left behind in the wake of Hurricane Rita and Katrina. The stories are about the efforts to try to save them and there are a lot of good people trying to save these animals.

Also a blog entry:

scroll down to Thursday September 29 2005

title is "$5000 reward offered for dog shooters."

Anyone know what is being done?

2. Bastards.
I am VERY uneasy about the involvement of mercenaries on American soil and can't believe it has been treated so lightly by the opposition and the media. I just don't get it, this NEEDS to be brought to light.

3. This is One of Their Worst Sins
These stupid fucking Bush neo-con assholes, compunding tragedy upon tragedy. First they wouldn't let people take their pets, so countless people died because they would not abandon them, then there were no rescue/shelter plans once the animals were left alone. Then there was no Federal response at all--for six days--for animals or humans as they died waiting, and now, with neglected dogs forming packs and becoming feral when a few weeks ago they were beloved family members in their homes--they kill them all! These corporate demons would not fortify the levees to prevent the whole problem, would not respond to it once it was here, and now there is just total destruction of the whole area as unsalvageable. Sometimes you can hardly even believe this is all happening.

5. I emailed Anderson cooper
after I saw a piece he did a few days ago. The sherriff of St Bernards Parish lied and said he did not know anything about it when clearly there was film of police doing the shooting and I read an article that the policeman in the film had been suspended.

6. I saw a report on TV . They showed inside one of the buildings
I got so upset, I don't know if it was Cooper or someone else.

A school I believe where people had been told to go. They had taken their pets and when they were rescued had to leave them. I had to turn away. I couldn't watch at first.
The people had written their names & addresses on the walls....hoping someone would rescue the animals and reunite them.

Shooting animals running outside in packs is bad enough. These were shot inside, with peoples names on the wall identifying their pets, there was still food there....and some kind of monsters that I can not even imagine killed these animals.

7. Recommended - what an unspeakably evil act
I hope the Karma for these atrocities happens to these monsters SOON.

By the way, this is a good opportunity to go to Eric's Dog Blog (http://www.ericsdogblog.com, as mentioned in the OP) and make whatever donation you can to help with the ongoing rescue & sustenance efforts he's making. 100% goes straight to what's needed. Eric & his folks are doing a truly heroic & selfless job down there! I never am able to send much, but every little bit helps, of course. (They take PayPal, too).

Big hugs to all who are doing their damndest to help these poor animals - including Anderson Cooper, who has remembered all creatures great & small in every broadcast I've seen.:grouphug:

9. There are two videos on CNN also
about the dogs that were killed. It's really disgusting. I hope they find the bastards that did this.
