Standing up for "stooping"-
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 01:28 PM by Sugar Smack
We've been through a rough ride, we Dems, and we've had to try to make sense of the trash, crap, and chicken bones thrown our way in this brilliant age of information. We're forced to look at countless pictures of the players in the Bush Administration. Even the much-photographed Princess Diana wasn't covered to this extent, and she had the necessary requirements of a great leader; first and foremost, HUMANITY.

There is NO humanity to thse people, save for the cheap photo-ops. Is it any wonder we consider them caricatures? Is it any wonder, as their intentions and attitudes come through so cleanly on camera, that we make fun of appearances? What's wrong with that? Sure, we are sinking to a certain level, but how good does it feel?

In the movie, "The People Verses Larry Flynt", the lawyer defended his case for free speech by pointing out political cartoons from a couple hundred years ago. He described them as caricatures. Do you feel they would favor us with humanity and respect, these BushCo followers? I doubt it. We get called "hippies", which is a fairly weak rebuttal. It's really no skin off my nose.

Allow us our moments of disbelief and knee-jerk reaction to photos of these vile characters. Ignore the less mature of us (ME) as I laugh my ass off at a picture of neocon Bill Kristol being pied in the face. Let us have our fun if it supports the entire cause. And know that immature or not, we're on your side.

2. Nope no humanity at all. Just working night and day to bring
about their 'dream world', run by and for corporations on a global scale. Snuffing out any hint of dissent by literally starving the opposition. There will be no refuge anywhere on the planet. The Plan is, in short, to enslave the entire population.

3. It certainly seems that way.
I am happy to post ANY dissenting matter here because I still can. I am called juvenile by some and childish by others; be that as it may, I am appreciating our right to free speech in the fullest extent.

4. Some of us hear that. Others are still hiding, thinking they are safely
insulated in their Mc Mansions in the burbs. By the time they catch on it will be too late.
I too am an immature, conspiracy nut, that just happens to have been right in all of my predictions for the last 20+ years.

5. I don't know Ican see it both ways
I mean if you feel such tactics make it more difficult to win elections and thus be able to implement our program, than I can see being upset at them.

I also don't know if we are talking about here at DU or at protests or in general. Here on DU it's kind of a lost cause trying to get the outside world to see us for what we are - so why not enjoy ourselves? I odn't find those sorts of things terribly funny, but why not.

8. The picture of Kerry on the waterskis-
The video of our beloved Dean howling-

Ridicule was a powerful tool against these otherwise fine men. Why not shoot ridicule back at our enemies? I, for one, am game to that. It's not just a smear but a solid shot, and I don't care what the form.

6. Nominated!
There's a time and place for everything.

Taking part in a cultured debate about the issues with thoughtful conservatives is one thing. But every once in a while we have to go back to 'our bullpen' and let rip with every form of vile sarcastic juvenile humor we can muster.

Bill Kristol getting pied is hilarious. Pickles looking like the Joker from Batman is also funny.

Sometimes, you gotta say "What the Fuck" and deflate those who would claim to be your moral superiors. They deserve it.

7. Well put!
Holding ourselves to a higher standard of behavior has improved our lot- YET- I believe our humanity allows for some levity. However we get it, and whatever level we retrieve it from-if it suits our purpose, GO FOR IT. Vanity "How will this look to republicans?" has nothing to do with the truth. We ridicule because we are given endless material, and if it's easier to vent with it, so be it.
