I am not speaking about moderate Republicans. I am speaking of the fanatical far right leaders like Delay, Frist, Dobson and Tony Perkins.
Especially after reading about how Dr. Dobson BEAT HIS DOG and then wrote about it in a book on child rearing! And then couple that with a prevailing and complete lack of empathy towards homosexuals, their love of the death penalty and war and a belief that every other person except they that subscribe to their, (fanatical religious right) beliefs are going to die in Hell and their ability to LIVE ON THIS EARTH AND BE OK WITH THAT BELIEF makes me certain that these people have no empathy for others. I do not fault young children or those who have been indoctrinated at an early age finding it hard to remove themselves from these beliefs. I believed it at one time. But I can truly say that I was never at peace with this type of religious belief. It is a very harsh way of viewing the world. I can barely stand seeing people (or any other beings) suffer on this earth now. To believe it happening to someone for eternity would be too much for my head to handle. I think I would explode.
Yet these people flaunt it. They flaunt their belief that other people are heading toward a torture chamber. They even torture certain groups in
this world by making them "untouchable",(like gays, transgendered and bi-sexuals).
They flaunt their belief that they are heading towards a Heaven that is closed to all other groups except theirs. They find each other in crowds by wearing crosses or other symbols of their elite group and then they clique together as if they have something that no one else has. (I even heard a woman tell me that years ago. I was young and at some "salvation" type of meeting and I was crying because some people were in the back laughing and cutting up. I told a woman next to me and she said: "Remember Honey, we have something that they don't"). These people will only go to "Christian counselors", “Christian doctors” and “Christian Schools” and some of them put their "Christian" logos on their business as if to tell the others that "they" are a better quality business because of their religious beliefs. If this is a group that thinks the rest of world needs to be “saved” in order to not be tortured for eternity I would think they would spread themselves out so as to try and save more people. But they do not. Sure their organizations do their share of recruiting but by and large this is a much closed group.
They are also far more concerned with form rather than substance. I heard someone at the pro-war rally speaking of the "language" people were using at the Peace Rally as if a word is more important than a bomb. I find it very easy to pick these people out on news shows. The men rarely have facial hair and the women almost always wear dresses and never show cleavage. Everything is supposed to present a “pure” like presence as per their definition of what “pure” would look like.
What is Narcissism?
A pattern of traits and behaviors which signify infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one's gratification, dominance and ambition.
Most narcissists (75%) are men.
The text in italics IS based on "Malignant Self Love - Narcissism Revisited", fourth, revised, printing (2003)
An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following criteria must be met:
*
Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
*
Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion
*
Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions)
*
Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation - or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply)
*
Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favorable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations
*
Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends
*
Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others
*
Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her
*
Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted
