DRAFT ALERT: Delayed-entry now 25% down to 5%, NG recruiting minus 43%
ATTENTION: The media is not reporting the bad news. THis is it: Army delayed-entry recruits fell from 25% to 5% for 2006, while the National Guard recruiting is minus 43% (told to Rangel by Max Cleland at a House hearing)! I have not been able to find the Army Reserve number. They are keeping that well hidden.

What does this mean?

The draft in 2006. If the bastards had a conscience, they would have started a draft sooner but since they don't, they are going to try and stretch the active duty troops even FURTHER. THe Congress has voted to increase active-duty troops by 50,000, but the uncooperative "insurgents" keep killing and wounding them darnit!

They may even wait until AFTER the mid-term elections and then basically re-invade much of Iraq with draftees in 2007. As soon as Bush has the draft, hundreds of thousands will be drafted for combat, as well as tens of thousands for the medical draft and hundreds of thousands for the non-combat skills draft.

The delayed-entry program has suckers wanting college money sign up for the Army a year early. This usually fills 25% of the total recruiting figure but since they could hardly sign anyone this year that has fallen to a covered up 5%.

1. Oh no, I distinctly remember before the "election" * said there
would NOT be a draft if he was able to stay on. :sarcasm:

Send his supporters to fight his war.

2. Once the draft starts
Edited on Sat Oct-01-05 06:44 PM by niallmac
the college campuses wake up and ALL the streets of DC are full of people.
I was going to add that the music will get better too but I have recently discovered that
the music isn't so bad now. The MSM just doesn't play it.

Now would be a good time for people to stop blindly following their dogma and get a new leash on life.
Try thinking for themselves. See, I don't need drugs to live in a fantasy world.

6. Well, they've been standing up in opposition to everything Bush wants all
along, I don't see why they wouldn't oppose a draft as well.

7. Yes, even Dems know...
The Pentagon needs to maintain the ability to fight 2 wars simultaneously.
If ranks fall below a certain level a draft is needed. It's not Politics at that point it's National Defense. Our military maintains a certain number of planes & tanks. Troops are no different.

I've said this in the "lay off recruiters" post.

Recruiters are the only thing between "us" and a draft. If they fail the troops have to come from somewhere.

9. I disagree that we'd "have" to have a draft. We could eliminate the Iraq
War and withdraw from there, and that'd eliminate one of the wars. Since we have no business being there.

10. The problem is the war doesn't seem...
to be going away anytime soon and we have 3 more years of *.

Even if war were to end what will it's lasting effect be on recruitment?

The Pentagon will need to maintain troop levels reguardless.

8. We don't need no stinking Army Reserve numbers
I think it's Double Super Secret that the Pentagon did away with the Army Reserves by simply activating all of them into the Regular Army. Hey, as Rummy said, "Come on, troops are fungible. You can have them here or there."
