First Daughter Jenna Bush has come to New York to learn spin like a pro: The 21-year-old presidette is working at the public relations firm of Harrison and Shriftman, where she won't exactly be groomed to replace outgoing Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer.

Jenna's current position is unpaid, but it does afford prime access to the downtown fashion scene. The other night, for instance, Jenna was spotted at the Coral Room locking lips with a hunky club promoter. Apparently, though, someone neglected to tell her the guy was gay.

They were off limits UNTIL they personally made themselves news. Underage drinking, getting in trouble with the law....Come on, it's not like the Daily News reported an article about Jenna delivering meals on wheels. They're party girls who like to be in the limelight--well, you gotta expect this kind of coverage.

Everyone who thought that it was wrong of the right to attack Chelsea Clinton for her mere existence on the planet should afford the same consideration to the Bush twins... individually and in aggregate.

The pResident's kids don't make policy. They didn't induce the public to support illegal foreign wars.

They might be a good example of how little parenting Bush did in their formative years, but that's not the issue. Their father and his cronies and their public policy are the issue.

Leave the kids out of it. They aren't the ones running the country. They aren't the ones responsible for the shit we're now in.

I don't know why, in partisan politics, people (I include republicans and democrats here, and I myself have been guilty of it on occasion) feel the need to include the family of the person whose politics we disagree with. There is no need to go on the attack on Jenna Bush or on Chelsea Clinton, it's mean spirited, and useless.
