When Harriet Miers gave money to the Gore campaign
was she being mischievous? Gore didn't make it past the primaries that year. Was this a Republican having fun at seeing the Democrats fighting with each other?

1. Maybe she thought she was giving to the Republicans.
Perhaps she thought the word was an adjective rather than a proper noun.

2. That's just Texas politics........
well, politics in general. Cover all your bets even if it's a piddling amount like $1,000. Yes, and for her that's a piddling amount.

3. Actually. I believe Gore was pro-life then, wasn't he? I'm pretty sure
at that time he was a more conservative Democrat. I think he evolved into more liberal positions as he matured in office,

4. He was never pro-life
He opposed federal funding for abortions but he was never for illegalization

5. I'm pretty sure his position was personally pro-life without overturning
Roe v Wade.

His opposition to federal funding of abortions did draw him closer to social conservatives at the time. Thankfully he evolved from there.
