So who else saw this crap on CNN this morning
The advertisement this morning that says how marvelous it is that Democrats voted in Roberts?

I didn't see who paid for it - I was too busy picking my jaw up off the breakfast table. What next, "Democrats wanted this war in Iraq!!!".

Is this the hallmark of a new psy-ops strategy? "George Bush is a great uniter, he even got Democrats to agree to support getting rid of Social Security"

and about a dozen other new "Democrats support" memes.

Does anyone else have more information on who sponsored that ad?

2. They've been playing this since literally the moment he was confirmed
I mean, within an hour, this ad was running.

Miers, it now appears, is actually a stealth anti-abortionist. The outrage from the right-wing talking heads is all a ruse. We're being scammed. Will our democratic "leaders" wake up in time to realize it, or will be steamrolled once again?

5. What is OUR counterstrategy?
The ad itself didn't disturb me as much as the fact that we're not responding to it.

That's what has my blood boiling. Senator Reid is channeling Zell Miller, and us Dems are just BOGA (bent over grabbed ankles) and taking another one for the team.

We need to learn to fight better.

7. To not confirm patty pit-bull.
God knows what the Dems will do.

Nothing, if past performance indicates future performance.

6. And they always use the same genial wise sounding
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 08:53 AM by elfin
voice for the voice over. So calm, so reasonable sounding, so understanding-----Aargh.

The female one is much the same - I think we should get mimics and do counter ads. Would be very confusing for the sheeple.

8. I just wrote them a love letter
Shouldn't your website properly be called
BareMajorityVote.com?

That's what it is, and the only reason you want a bare majority vote is because you KNOW that you can't find a candidate who is good enough on his or her own merits to pass with a bipartisan 2/3's vote.

You are superb at mischaracterizing black as white, evil as good, Democratic resistance as bipartisan support. I wish the Dems would learn that trick - but if they threw away all principle and ethics to win the fight, they would be indistinguishable from you.

I completely admire your evil in an detached intellectual student-of-history sort of way, although there is nothing in your party that has any place in 21st Century America. You are doomed to fail, eventually, sooner or later.

Although you can put up temporary roadblocks here and there, politically speaking, you can't stop liberalism, and in the long term you have no choice but to fail as your hard haired socially conservative reality diverges from the reality of most people on the street.

Throwing out silly soundbites saying that black is really white today and that Democrats overwhelmingly supported Roberts just makes you look even more divorced from reality. You've already failed.

10. Progress for America
I've got a few notes on them. They were behind the "Ashley's Story" ad during last year's presidential campaign.

OpenSecrets.org says of them:
http://www.opensecrets.org/527s/527events.asp?orgid=6

"Republican group that plans to raise tens of millions of dollars for issue-advocacy efforts, particularly TV ads, in support of GOP candidates. Will form "issue truth squads" that respond to Democratic attacks on President Bush."

Founded by Tony Feather, a well-connected Republican lobbyist from Missouri. See:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A11277-2004Jan12?language=printer

Feather is a pal of Karl Rove's, going back to their College Republican days in the early 70's. He worked for the RNC in the 1990's and was political director for the Bush campaign in 2000.

11. To be confused with Progressive Dems for America...I assume.
It's hard to keep up with all their little groups who advertise when many of our Dem ads can't get aired. I saw one of those Progress for America ads awhile back and posted about it here. I thought it was a Dem ad, too at the time. Some DU'ers set me straight about it. Would be good to know where they get their money, but it's hidden in one of their
Norquist shell groups, I guess. :eyes:

9. There Was A Support DeLay Ad On Last Night
I had to take a double-take...it was right after Aaron Brown did a story on Da Hammer's latest indictments...and said how "partisan" Ronnie Earle is and all the talking points. I tried to catch who paid for the spot but I was so stunned to see such a balsy spot I started to lose my dinner. Thank goodness the Daily Show came on moments later...

We can call them and give them usuggestions on stories, we think they should cover. You can tell they are pretty bogus, and don't seem to be trying to feign much credibility, at least now to anyone with a clue.
