3. Of course it's short term.
The current oil crisis will end when the oil companies are booted from the white house. The entire crisis was created, fomented by the execs who wanted to loot the treasury and the public while no one would hold them accountable.

The NEXT oil crises, peak oil, won't be felt for another ten years. That one won't be so short term.

5. Oil shortages, the current "oil situation" is NOT...
going to be a "short-term crisis". It is going to be long-term, if we do not shift from his fossil-fuel ignorance.

7. 10 years?
That's pretty optimistic. People like Matt Simmons are beginning to converge on the year 2007 as the latest. Some are even saying we've already crossed it. The Saudi's seem pretty frantic. Building oil platforms in the Persion Gulf is not a good sign.

8. Peak oil date
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 11:36 AM by YapiYapo

It's obvious peak oil will be in the next decade ,EIA is really laughable even the saudi are not that optimistic about future.

The most optimistic credible source is laherrere, It peak around 2015 with a long plateau.

The latest rumor mention we may peak sooner than expected due to the 2 hurricane.Every rig construction company are over booked, which will delay many new field. There is a good possibility they won't come online in time to save the decline of existing field. It won't be a true peak oil (geological) but the effect on the economy will be the same.
