We just blew up a small village. Men and Children......
"We just blew up a small village. Jesus, the imbedded reporter showed it all. Old men and children."

I just read this on another local board I post on. I've not gotten a response to my request for details. Does anyone know if this can be validated? I'm heartsick if it's true.

14. Of course it's war
It's also an illegal and oppressive occupation for profit, but it's still war.

8. What village? Anyone know who the reporter is?
Why are people seemingly so immune to the horrors of war? I don't mean on DU, I mean out in the world. Why is there not more outrage, or at the very least, sadness?

13. how long before they start
saying "women and children" are insurgents, too - like they did in Nam - to justify killing them.

11. well
a 30 second sound bite on TV in the middle of the afternoon. How many folks do you think are even aware of the atrocities committed by the USA in Iraq daily? If it were on TV nightly with bodies and wounded and dead soldiers perhaps there would be more outrage. It made a huge difference during Vietnam.

12. Agreed
Also I don't think people watch the nightly news the way they used to. Now we have cable news (who tell us what to think about the day's events) and way too much other programming to distract people.

It used to be that people gathered around the TV to watch the 6:00 news, but those days are gone.

Most people get their news during the day from the Internet or cable news, and many others just don't watch at all.
