1. Democracy. Happens when you can't win a seat because people |
|
don't rally behind you. You tend to lose votes in Congress when you don't have enough people to outvote the other side.

4. Wonder why people just don't seem to want to rally behind the |
|
congress...could be 'cause lack of leadership? or lack of trust due to their voting history? or 'cause the dems politicians aren't standing up to the corruption? just to list some possible reasons.

10. Because people don't know what's going on |
|
Scan DU. You'll see morans posting that Kerry sold us out and has rolled over just two posts down from a post about Kerry's latest attempts to rally opposition to some Bush bill or another. People would rather whine and moan about a lack of leadership than do the hard work it takes to win. That's the real reason we're out of power--too many whiners in the party who want it their way or no way.

just one of many examples of Dems not standing up on serios matters. I don't understand why our leaders haven't dealt with Diebold yet.
On Edit: Do you have a list of who has voted for what in the 2005 sessions?

6. You also tend to lose when 80% of your votes are counted by one family! |
|
Until Dems address Diebold and ES&S nothing they say matters.

11. Then let's shut down DU and go home, I guess |

If you really believe these Diebold fantasies, then there is no point even being here. We should devote our life to making better lasagna, or something.

On Edit: Even though I want to believe it isn't the case, there are many dem politician who aren't acting and I agree w/Melody that it's fear. And, unlike the freepers and this admin proves over and over again, I believe being in deniel only brings more chaos.

2. No leaders, just politicians |
|
The Democrats have spent so many years trying to be Republicans that now they don't know how to behave. Original thought and plain, common sense talking, instead of focus-group driven BS has been lacking for years.
With few exceptions (mostly in the House, they are a sorry bunch.

3. Anthrax, among other things. |

Also, the Dems bet their future on corporations rather than mere people supporting them, and while the Dems held some power, the corporations tended to split their giving 50/50 (or so). But when the Dems lost power in '94 and '00, the Dems became useless to the corporations and so the corporations shifted *ALL* their money to their natural allies, the Republicans.

Paul Wellstone and many, many more.
A lot of the Democrats - who aren't courageous or well-entrenched enough - are simply afraid.

In the end, it's all about money.
While money itself is neutral, desire for it brings out the worst in people. As long as money is a factor in politics those with the most wins. That means the rich. What else can explain the listless capitulation of the Democratic Party on GATT, NAFTA, Roberts, the ESA, Iraq and so much else?
Last week I about bottomed out but I suspect that somehow the Democratic Party will find some way to sink me into a new, deeper trough of depression soon enough.
