No wonder some people get down on Texas! Harriet Miers.

We do not own George. Never will. He is a man without a land.

What did he do for the Texas National Guard? AWOL. Okay? That should give you a hint. We will not claim him.

Texans are proud people. We get slammed for it on occasion.

We have "six flags over Texas". And that is the literal truth.
This land has been occupied by Spain, France, Mexico, Republic, Confederacy, U.S. ..... Make that seven. We have our own flag. And much to my shame, that does not include the Native Americans who lived here long before.

I think this plays large in why we are a proud Republic.

http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/treasures/republic/declare-01.html

A free and independent Republic of Texas was officially declared March 2, 1836, when the 54 delegates -- each representing one of the settlements in Texas -- approved the Texas Declaration of Independence. After the delegates signed the original declaration, 5 copies were made and dispatched to the designated Texas towns of Bexar, Goliad, Nacogdoches, Brazoria, and San Felipe. 1,000 copies were ordered printed in handbill form.
~~

The government of the United States, by certain joint resolutions, bearing date the 1st day of March, in the year A. D. 1845, proposed to the Republic of Texas, then a free, sovereign and independent nation, the annexation of the latter to the former, as one of the co-equal States thereof,

Secede.
Texas is the only state to retain the right to secede. You betcha.

Some may think us proud (they would be right) .. full of corruption .. no, this land has been fought and conquered many times over. What makes us, the living, proud, is that we were born here.

It is sacred ground. No one, not even George the looter, can change that.

Please respect our heritage. And feel free to share yours.
It is OKAY to feel proud of where we are and where we've been.
America could use a huge dose of that.

Hariette hails from Texas. But she does not have the spirit. She is of the rattlesnake variety. I just have a feeling.

2. Yeah. I know.
That guy was a ding-bat.

My point(s) are only that some folks don't understand where "true" Texans (and that does not include George Walker) get a sense of pride of ownership.

Texas is unique. As is every other state.

I hope ya'll share your state pride (if you have any).
How can we be "United" and torn apart at the same time?

3. i agree that chimpy ain't a true texan.......
....but, after living in texas for 11 years, i can tell you that the vast majority of true texans do, in fact, love and claim bush as a texan. there are more bush sycophants in texas than anywhere else in the country.

now i know plenty of real, live, texan born and bred people that hate the wormy little puppet. but they are the exception and not the rule.

4. Yeah, around Dallas, the shrubbots seem very happy to claim him as a
"Texan" even though his "Texas origins" are obviously a total farce to this transplanted Northeasterner.

5. I certainly don't judge a state by certain individuals from it.
I'd hate for Pennsylvania to be judged badly because of Rick Santorum. (OK, there are lots of stupid people here because they voted for him, but there aren't many LIKE him here.)
