(I say "I think" because, this comes from the Comedy Central website, and who knows, they may have made some of this stuff up.)

Bob was a real TV reporter before he became a fake one. For 10 years he toiled as a reporter and anchor at different TV stations across the country. Along the way he won 4 regional Emmys for his work (nominated for 14 others) and reported under several different names.
At WIBW-TV in Topeka, Kansas he worked under his real name of Bob Wiltfong but at KPLC-TV in Lake Charles, Louisiana he became "Bob Alan" (Bob says it's because the Cajun population there was frightened by his real last name). Moving to Wichita, Kansas for a job at KSNW-TV, he once again reported under his real name. However, always longing to keep viewers on their toes, he changed his name, once again, for a job on Long Island, New York to "Bob Butler." Why Butler, you may ask? Several reasons. First and foremost, "Bob Butler" just sounded more "network-y" to Bob than Wiltfong. Regardless
While working as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter at News 12 Long Island, Bob began taking improv comedy classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theater in Manhattan. One thing led to another and he was soon doing comedy shows in the city on almost a nightly basis including at the People's Improv Theater (The P.I.T.). In March of 2002, Bob quit TV news to pursue comedy and acting full-time.
His acting credits include appearances on "Chappelle's Show" (you can catch him a couple of times on the Season 1 DVD), "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and several national commercials (Microsoft, Staples, etc.). He performs at theaters around the world with his improv comedy troupe, Neutrino (www.neutrinonation.com), doing their signature show: the Neutrino Video Projects. And he routinely performs his one-man show, "Anchor's Away!" which details his experiences in the TV news business as well.
Bob lives on Long Island with his wife, Jill, and their dog, Custer as far as you know.
