The President Meets With New Orleans Katrina Survivors ---pix->>>
Edited on Tue Oct-04-05 11:00 PM by Stephanie

He met with actual displaced New Orleans citizens, not just FEMA workers and military!

...He genuinely LOVES the people he governed, as well as the IDEA of what America can become.

My personal goal is to someday meet him and thank him. I also want to get my family's picture taken with him. ChicaAzul and I will remember him always, but I'd love for our 5 year old to grow up with a concrete piece of evidence that a POTUS cares about the future of a black child.

He certainly won't get that impression from this current POS!

25. As for his personal failings, I think about half the people in the country
and nearly all his accusers did the same.

Clinton could get a blowjob AND take an important phone call.

Bush would fuck up the phone call even if he had a bug in his ear, cue cards, and hand puppets showing him what to say.

And I don't think Clinton ever called another world leader anything like Pooty Poot.

26. A thought on Bush's use of nicknames for other world leaders...
they should return the favor and use some of the names for him we use here like Chimpy, Baby Bush, Junior, the Texas Tard, and Caligula.

How could he object when he gives them the same level of respect?

4. Here - article in NYT: Clinton Lends His Expertise and an Ear in Louisiana
The Former President
Clinton Lends His Expertise and an Ear in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La., Oct. 4 - He kissed babies, hugged their parents, felt their pain and smiled for cellphone photos. Bill Clinton was back in his element on Tuesday on a tour of Louisiana, and at times even seemed to forget his status as a former president.

"I'll get on that," he assured a man trying to square the abundance of supplies he had seen delivered to the shelter with the paucity of blankets and mouthwash inside.

-snip-
He got an earful from shelter residents about frustrations in their new lives, like times when the showers are shut off and what they see as a bureaucracy keeping them from a semblance of their old lives.

-snip-
He recounted several searing experiences to Mr. Clinton, including the failure of law enforcement and emergency medical workers to remove a dead body from a high school cafeteria where he had taken shelter.
"I'd rather have you tell me you can't do anything for me than promise me something you can't deliver," Mr. Warner told Mr. Clinton.

15. Funny. I did a google search on "Bush speaks to hurricane victims".
Nada. Tried "Bush visits hurricane victims". Still nothing.
Lots of hits about Bush speaking about the hurricane and about Bush speaking to reporters about the hurricane. Lots of pretty pictures of him with hurricane victims (Bassier sisters, anyone?), but I don't see anything that shows that he actually sat down and had a conversation with, prayed with, or listened to concerns from any of the victims. Nothing where he did ANYTHING but grace them with his glorious presence.

Curious, huh?

7. It's so nice...
...to look at a picture of a PRESIDENT and see sincerity, compassion and true empathy.

You look at those pictures and you can feel that President Clinton cares about those people and he's really listening to them.

Junior hand picks several "loyalists" for antiseptic photo ops that mean NOTHING.

He's such a fake. Such a shameful dork. A hollow husk.

I hate moments like this--when I'm reminded that we used to have a REAL MAN--not a frickin sociopathic child-- in the White House.

Bill Clinton made his mistakes. However, he was at least, human.

It's so, so crushing to contemplate what a sick man we have as pResident.

18. Clinton went on Democracy Now election day 2000...
Any Goodman busted his chops about the death penalty and its racist application. It's hard to imagine Bush submitting to such a tough interview for that length of time--or at all.

Clinton knew his shit, and while he might have been too business friendly for some of us, he seemed to be holding back some of the worst impulses of the far right.

24. I agree there, and also, boyOboy do I miss him.
I'm absolutely not a policy expert, there's TONS that I don't know, and at that time I wasn't especially paying attention either, but from more recent reading I've been doing I got the impression too that Bill tried to much more, real good stuff, but was constantly roadblocked by GOP; also trying to walk the thin line, knowing that many things he wanted to get done would only fly if he made concessions to the selfish profit motives of the scumbags.

There's got to be lot's more to it, but never did I get the impression that Bill's activities were shady or destructive or ideologically selfish....

well anyway, I got teared up seeing these pics too. Makes me sick to think of the sociopath we've got now, and I'm on a constant emotional rollercoaster around those who are so deluded they think turdweasel is gawd's annointed favorite. If this doesn't stop soon, I'm gonna have to audition for a head-exploding scene in the remake of "Scanners".

Bill Clinton was a people person. I met him a few times and once while on a rope line I brought my then 88yr old uncle with me. BC had the SS bring a chair over so my uncle could sit. My uncle was a life long Democrat and local politician for some 48+ yrs. My uncle was thrilled to talk with him for a moment or two, it made my day and I thanked him for it.

38. A real President. I miss him terribly.
Saw a bit on CNN about this - he was asked if he ever tells Bush Sr. what he doesn't like about GW.
Clinton laughed and said he doesn't need to say what's already known. And at his age, he can't go around being mad at people all the time.

He's wearing some type of bracelet in all pics, but the beaded one is only in the later two.

Somebody at the shelter must have given it to him.
