I'm really surprised and I'm hopeful that it won't climb much more from that.
Still I do find it quite remarkable that the number is that low. What do you all think? Is 972 realistic, or are there hundreds more that are still lying in attics or were washed out to sea?

Is a "confirmed death" one that has been positively identified? If so, that number is completely reasonable because many reports exist of a large number of unidentified bodies.
I haven't been able to read much news on this today, so I'm not sure what the basis of the number is, though.
