Why I think the rw outrage over Miers is sincere. |
|
Someone on the CBS Evening News (yeah, I know :)), Gloria Borger, I think, said something that finally made the whole thing make sense for me. They want to overturn Roe v. Wade, obviously, but they wanted more than that. They wanted the grand battle between Good and Evil. They wanted *asshat to put up a lunatic, fire-breathing, Bible-thumping ideologue like one of them and fight the Holy Crusade for that person, and they didn't get their Crusade. (For example, Buchanan's rant against Miers used the word "battle." He wanted a battle.)
They called for the Hail Mary pass and two point conversion and got a field goal instead.
If that's true, we have to remember that a field goal can win the game, and I'll bet that's the word going out from the White House (such as Cheney on Limpballs yesterday). So, I don't think we can take any comfort in their outrage except to watch the smoke come out of their ears.

7. I don't know why Bush ever decided to run fo president. |
|
The right-wing was always playing for all the marbles. They covered for Bush's past and his present Machiavelli methods as long as Bush delivered. Now, just with what they've written about him and Meier today, they've destroyed him. Bush will give them what they want, and then the left and the rest of the country will finish him off with impeachment.
Now that I see how it all is unfolding, I wonder how it wasn't possible for him to predict before he started.

8. I say bring it on. Overturn Roe and we win. |
|
This would create the biggest backlash that this country has ever seen. This would guarantee the end of the RW in this country.
Roe has an overwhelming majority in this country and striking it down would ensure that the RWinger's never win again.
Hopefully, the advances in medicine since the days of back alley abortions would reduce the number of deaths and injuries which will surely occur should this come to pass.
Maybe I am just trying to find some positive in what will be a horrific situation.

11. That's what Springer was saying this morning |

That overturning Roe would be the end of the repuke party. I hope that would bring people to their senses, but people have gotten so nonsensical in the last few years, I don't know.

9. And with the Battleship GOP imploding in on itself |
|
the fundies know that they will probably not have an opportunity like this for another generation. After all of the ethical scandals, embezzlement of the treasury and lies, when, just when, will the American People trust these crazy neo-con/bible-thumpers again? There is a perfect storm brewing. Not only is the administration in hot water, but we have Delay/Abermoff, and now Frist. Who in the GOP is there to stand by? Will congress have to distance themselves from their own leadership? Bwhaha. And they did it all to themselves.

10. The outrage may indeed be genuine |
|
But what are the lunatic wingnuts going to do? Abandon their holy quest? Leave the playing field? Sit out an election or two? Run over to the Democrats. Okay, that last one was just for the humor value.
No, they'll rant, they'll rave, and then their ovine tendencies will reassert themselves, and they'll fall in behind their leader. They always fall in behind their leader. They MUST fall in behind their leader, because it says in Romans that they should.
