Anybody see Studs Terkel on Democracy Now.....
This man is a national treasure. I could sit and listen to him for hours and hours. He is now ninety three years old and while watching the show it's sad to see him slowing down a bit.

As for Amy Goodman, what a peach of an interviewer. Very, very few interruptions and she just let him talk. At one point while talking about one thing, he mentioned there was an adjoining funny story behind it and she encouraged him to tell it. Other interviewers would have just let that go.

3. A lot of those old coots are like that
down around here, the legendary Bill Monroe also had a legendary tongue. Any woman with two legs who gets near old Bill, soon finds out what a 'friendly' old geezer he really is.

11. This was about 5 years ago
when he was still very much alive. Didn't mean to imply that this happened recently.

(I did forget that he kicked the buck though)

5. He called bushco a "burlesque show that isn't funny."
also, bush is a "burlesque reagan." He was right about everything changing after Reagan. Working class became a dirty word.

At 93, he's lead an interesting life.

generation, not just the WWII generation. I suppose that griping GI's are a univerdal lot, but if I could have changed some of the names and places, it would have been exactly like the Army I knew; an enlisted mans view of the drudgery of Army Life, none of the Carousel Views of the Top Brass who don't have to sleep in the mud...:)

He has always been concerned with the "Common Man" and it will be a sad day for this nation when he passes on...:( Like Vonnegut if you let him speak and don't interupt him, you get a view of America that is rarely seen...:D
