104. HUFPO had Bush & Cheney as possible indictments via obstruction of justice
because they simply knew what Rove and Libby knew from the get go.

What are the chances of Rove/Libby having knowledge about Plame/Wison smearing without the Prez and the VP....? ZERO...!

75. The perp walk is too good for him
believe me, there are many in DC on both sides of the asile that would love to tar and feather him. Anyone that didn't play along or was opposition was smeared. The list of those smeared include Ann Richards (accused of being alcoholic and lesbian friendly), Max Cleland (didn't earn medals in Nam), John McCain (fathered black child, stoolie to VC while he was POW in Hanoi Hilton), Jessica Lynch when she wouldn't play the hero (rumours circulating she was raped), Joe Wilson, the guy that faced down SH and protected Americans in Iraq in GWI (outed his wife as agent). These are just a few that I know of, but this pink little piggie needs 'Deliverence' to the pen ASAP.

The White House is hiding Karl Rove - they know something's coming...
by John in DC - 10/05/2005 03:36:00 PM

I just talked to a source who told me that Karl Rove has been missing from a number of recent White House presidential events - events that he has ALWAYS attended in the past. For example, Rove was absent from yesterday's presidential press conference to promote Harriet Miers. These are the kind of events Rove ALWAYS attends, I'm told, yet of late he's been MIA each and every time.

That would be sweet!

But the Grand Jury is still in session until the 28th, so I'm willing to give Fitz as much time as he needs to make everything nice and airtight. I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

Besides, I've still got to lay in a stock of popcorn and beer (the good stuff, this time!).

Bush speech to crank up Iraq message

Excerpt... read it and puke! :-)

PRESIDENT George W. Bush will attempt to rally Americans wavering on Iraq with a speech which his senior aides have said will be "significant".

Faced with raging violence in Iraq, a US death toll fast approaching 2,000 troops and rising domestic angst over the course of the war, the Bush national security team is telling Americans that now is not the time to quit.

They compare post-Saddam Hussein Iraq to failed-state Afghanistan, an anarchic swamp where terrorism found a home, and Al-Qaeda plotted the September 11, 2001 terror attacks.

Bush aides have argued for months it is better to fight the "terrorists" like Al-Qaeda's Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, in Iraq, than on American streets after fresh devastating terror attacks in Iraq this past week.

The administration is now bolstering that warning by fleshing out what they see as the perils in leaving before enough Iraqi troops can be trained to enforce security.

"If we quit now, we will abandon Iraq's democrats at the time of greatest need," Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said in a major speech on Friday at Princeton University.

And another...

Bush seeks to defend Iraq strategy ahead of October 15 referendum

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President George W. Bush, facing a major test with the October 15 constitutional referendum in Iraq, will be redoubling his efforts in the coming days to defend his strategy in the war-torn country.

He is to deliver a speech on the war on terrorism Thursday in Washington, and he met on Wednesday with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and US General David Petraeus, who until recently was in charge of training Iraqi security forces.

107. Might be; but if Tinkles is trying to upstage Fitz, he's DOUBLE-dumb
Consider what he's trying to sell to the country -- an increasingly unpopular war, launched on lies/incompetence. Along comes Fitz with indictments charging that members of the executive branch knowingly outed a CIA agent in retribution for someone telling the TRUTH about some of the reasons for that selfsame unpopular war.

If both happen tomorrow, it won't matter what sequence they're in. If Tinkles' speech comes first and is like all his other speeches (i.e., unconvincing), it'll still be on people's minds when Fitz takes center stage to drive in the stake. If the indictments come first, who but the truly brain-dead (read: his "base") are going to listen to a word * has to say, anyway.

And either way, the Keith Olbermanns and the Randi Rhodeses and the like of the world will take great pleasure in juxtaposing the two events. Either way, Numnutz comes out with the messy end of the shitstick.

I think I'll get a few extra bags of popcorn, and maybe a 12-pack instead of a six-pack. This could be good.

I've had my hopes dashed against the rocks too many times to get excited about a rumor no matter how many people attest to it's truthfulness. I'd like to believe it's true, that their IS a god, lords of Karma, kismet, whatever you want to call it. Not being a person capable of blind faith I'll wait for the printed word or better yet a video of Rove being frog-marched out of the White House before I engage in any celebratory activities. I can't stand the heartbreak of being let down again.
Here's hoping though!

33. This could be bad.
If this administration is impeached, many of our international relationships will change.

I am especially worried about the Chinese. Without these despots in the White House and the threat they carry for ME expansion, there may be enough incentive on the world market for the Chinese to let our economy bleed out.

We should have listened to Carter over 30 years ago.

If this administration is deposed the only thing that will save this country is a frank and painful discussion of the stark measures needed to keep us from going down.

I hope our politicians have the vision, fortitude, and leadership to pull that off...

but I'm not betting my first-born on it.

By Jove I hope you're right!

In fact I'd bet on it. Unfortunately, it would only last a few weeks tops... and it won't stop corporations from outsourcing.

Nah, Dems will need serious leadership to help us pull our fat out of the fire.

But I promise to come to the vindication party.

38. If you remove a chimp's brain... slip another chimpburger on the barbie
Let's see how much biology I remember from school. If you remove a chimp's brain, does the chimp get smarter or dumber? Is dumber possible? With Rove out of action for kidney stones (or whatever it was), Dumbya didn't have enough sense to cut his 5-week vacation short when a large American city was under water. Slip another chimpburger on the barbie, mate, 'cause this chimp is toast.

41. Even if indicted, I doubt Turd Blossom will be gone...
He is simply too indispensible to *

Consider this: When the Plame story first broke, what did the * people say? (McClellan, I think): Anyone found to be involved will not work for this administration (my paraphrase).

When Rove's involvement became indisputable, then it was ANYONE CONVICTED OF A CRIME (emphasis mine) will no longer work for this administration.

My guess is that when the indictment comes down, we'll get it straight from * himself: Anyone convicted of a crime and not pardoned by me will no longer...

You get the idea.

They'll claim he acted without authority, like they did with the junior enlisted at Abu Gharaib.

Then he quietly goes to work as a WH consultant, just like ole BROWNIE did.

79. That's interesting... but we should be just a little bit cautious.
Knowing the deviants running the White House, they might have leaked that crap themselves, so that if it turns out to be fewer indictments, or even no indictments, they can whine and cry about the Democratic DC Rumor Mill, or some other such trite crap.

I think something's going down, but I can wait just a few more hours until the Thursday news cycle begins... around 7:00 am ET? :-)

Bush will wait for convictions before he fires anyone, if you ask me. His approval ratings are as low as they can go, so he won't even care if there's a mounting chorus urging the President to fire those who are indicted.

And besides, name one senior staff member that Bush has ever fired... Paul O'Neill doesn't really count. :-)

I waved a sign in that slug's face in Vegas last year where he came for a fundraiser that said, "Peace is Patriotic." He smiled and nodded his head and gave me a thumbs up. How is that for arrogance?

I will be sooooooo happy to see him indicted! I can't even imagine what he would look like after a jail term, he already looks like he hasn't seen the sunshine in years he is so pasty-white. There were dozens of us out there because we knew he was coming, but I was the only one who managed to get in his face because I was standing right by the gate when his SUV turned in. (Yeah, an SUV, of course.) I survived a face-to-face encounter with the evil one, and we are going to survive Bush's America, too. They can't spin Bush's Brain being indicted. They just can't.

124. In honor of the Coming Wrath of Law I wrote and performed
a song "Secret Agent Plame" for Valerie Plame and for the credits of my film "Rove's War" that many here have been waiting for me to finish and ship.. (I was ill for about a month, really bad, better now tho)

Well, the film is done for those of you at the DU that have been so patient so I'll be sending your copies out in the next two days, meanwhile you can listen to the music I wrote for the credits (actually I wrote all the music in the film and performed that too, but it's a lot more low key)..

and I want to thank each of you for your patience, I apologise profusely but besides being very ill, I wanted to be sure and do a good job, so you'll probably be pleased with the two DVD set, 150+ minutes of hearings, (Downing Street Minutes with Conyers), graphics, hilarious right wing hypocrisy and a Chronology of the Plame outing from the beginning up to this point, that you'll be getting in the mail.

You can hear "Secret Agent Plame" at http://www.takebackthemedia.com

Hope you enjoy, if you do, kick this thread and let me know and pass it around if your would, I want Fitz and Wilson, maybe Rove and Libby to hear this one!

Thanks again for your patience,

Symbolman

129. One hopes that this is only the beginning.
Somewhere recently I saw a blog which gave a fairly comprehensive list of Repukes up for indictmens.

I'm hoping that a web of links, new names and new crimes will start to emerge as one or more of the top echelon goes down. Is there a whip behind the whips? Who is it? That is the person to concentrate on.

People are grumbling at how cravenly the Dems have caved time and time again over issues that should have had them screaming blue murder. Corporate interests might keep a few "dems" safely coralled, but to the degree we've seen time and time again.

What if there's a reason?

Where are the dirt files?

Is that what caused the catipulations so quickly after the elections. Not because Kerry himself was compromised, but because he was shown how deeply the Party could be gutted.

If it does so gut the Democrats, then so be it. The Repukes are going to be gutted even worse.

A clean broom might be just what the US needs, no matter how painful it is. It would be a heaven sent oportunity to break the two party stranglehold. A tiny clean core should remain of each party, though care might be needed to ensure there were no "cleanskin sleepers" left behind. Huge swathes of seats in both houses will be up for grabs. Make sure the right people grab them. Working coalitions should help ensure that multiple interests get proper representation.

The cherry on the cake would be an independent president smart enough introduce legislation requiring all future presidents to select/accept an advisor from all parties.

A nice filip would be requiring the selections to be made only from sitting members of one or both houses and the seat to pass to the #2 vote getter.

Then there's preferential voting, cleaning up the voting system for once and for all, making it as fraud proof and transparent as possible (I like the idea of electronic tabulation of mark sense cards (filled out behind a screen of holes). Have random manual counts for cross checking against the tabulators and a full manual count on any result that differs from exit poll by more than the margin of error;

And why are you electing civil employees like dog catchers? Isn't that unnecessary complication of the electoral process and a waste of time in the booth? (All I think it does is give a false illusion of control. WHst we vote fore locally Why elect or even have sherrifs these days? And why so many levels of police. Australia gets by on state level and federal. Our intelligence services are severely circumscribed in their internal activities (though this looks like become less so in the near future)

Streamlining it looks nice too. 2 local tickets, mayor and council. 2 or 3 state, 3 federal and 1 presidential. I do however like the idea of direct voting for certain types of projects. A degree of direct budgetary control is quite useful, with proper checks and balances of course.

There is so much you could do if the current system self destructs as it so looks like doing. Republicans will not be the only casualties. It's not a pleasant sounding option, but it us one that offers up an ideal opportunity for ALL of the people to take back control of the country and reshape it into something the founders would both recognise and aprove of.
