How dare they let Dobson access secret information!
James Dobson is an Extremist!

He has NO right to knowledge that the Average American does not have.

This is PURE AUTHORITARIANISM on Bush's Administration's Part!

(Does this seem good material for a Petition?)

4. Ah!
Well, that certainly proves how close the rats are if he has "secret" talks with the Whitehouse. What a freaking joke. Thanks for the heads up.

3. I did hear an NPR All Things Considered piece that chilled me to the bone
Not for the subject of the piece, which was about how the fundaMENTALists are all in a tither about Biers' nomination, but rather whome they chose to interview -- which was just about every right-wing religious extremist and political hack known to humankind. Name a name and they'll have got an extended soundbite in this piece. Everyone from Richard Viguiere(sp?) to Pat Robertson, etc. Sorry, was distracted and furious while listening to this -- and driving so I can't recall the full list.

The audio should be up here shortly: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4946766

I couldn't believe this was NPR though. Since when are these people legitimate political commentators?

5. It's a great bit
... of disinformation.

In at least one of the scenarios I can invision, Miers is NOT the real candidate for the SCOTUS, but someone they want to get filibustered so they can deal with the nuclear option prior to the REAL candidate (Jannis Brown?).

They didn't get the reaction they were looking for so let's grab dobson and get him to say that stuff and really make us worry.

That's just one of a dozen scenarios I can think of. The truth is I don't have a clue if we should be counting our blessings it's Miers right now instead of Brown, or counting our days of democracy left.

7. Here's the real problem
any and every organization has just so much life to it, be it official, corporate, or otherwise.

For example, all roads led to Rome, until they switched to Christianity, and eventually lost an entire empire. The Chinese had huge ocean-worthy ships with which they traveled across the Pacific, even to California, Hawaii, and most other pacific islands. A change in religious beliefs led a Dynasty to go from outward looking and progressive to inward, self-absorbed and ultimately, self-destructive.

Our system of government has taken beatings, whippings and abuse for 5 years. Not by some external, evil terrorist organization, but from within. The enemy is not outside in the Persian Gulf, it is here, in the administration, in Justice, the DOD and now, State and the Supreme Court. Our enemy is a home-grown theocratic movement - an evil christian cabal, intent on changing our world. To our detriment.

There is only so much any group or organization or entity can take, and I think, with Miers' nomination, we have exceeded the limit. We are seeing the ultimate death of the US Supreme Court. WIth her presence, the court will become a laughing stock, a non-entity. Something to ignore, not respect. It will be justice by Hari-Kiri. This will be matched by the self-destructive efforts initiated by John "No Nipples" Ashcroft, and improved upon by Alberto "Mr. Torture" Gonzales. - I mean really, if terrorism is so dangerous to America, why does Justice concentrate on Medical Marijuana and legal pornography? Because, their goal is totally different from the oath they swore when they took office.

BUT, before it is fully recognized as a laughing stock, a joke, an inane group of religiously driven group of theocratic thugs, they will do much damage to our country. We are living in our second civil war, except, as of yet, no bullets are flying. For now. This civil war is being brought by fundie christian elite who want to reshape our country.

Their goal is the ultimate destruction of our legal/social/political system. They plan to replace it with a theocracy - something that Roberts and Miers will introduce in the near future. This is no tin hat theory, this is our current reality. And it is sad.
