As usual, we had a good response to our call for moderators, and it was extremely difficult to narrow the field down. We had to turn down a number of very qualified people. We hope that everyone who applied to serve as a moderator this turn will consider applying again next term.

A moderator switch is always a little chaotic, so I want to apologize in advance for any problems that may arise over the next few days. Thank you for your understanding.

Because only individuals who have donated under their own names can serve as moderators.

13. The legal document is a fairly recent innovation.

As a matter of fact, last year we did have a guy serve as a moderator who was not who he said he was. That was before we had an official legal document for them to sign. In fact, he's the reason why we do this now.

Fortunately, we have not had to enforce the document yet. But we will not hesitate to do so.

15. I was wondering what the lag time was between asking for moderators

and the welcome! That is a great idea! Modererators have a VERY tough job. They are, to a person, with very few exceptions, GREAT people!

Mod actions are done by consensus, so the genuine mods would just override anything a mole mod would try to do.

We need lots of mods. There are right-wing yutzes out there whose entire life consists of trying to "attack" DU.
