Was Meiers a spite nominee? |
|
Now that we know what we know now, is it possible that Bush felt betrayed because the Almighty right-wingers forgot to put lamb's blood on his door to keep the Angel of Indictments away? So he picked Meiers as a spite nominee?
All those lawyers in the Federalist Society and not one will be able to put Humpty together again. Was this his way of saying, I'm going down, but I'll do it my way?

3. Meiers will vote for decisions favorable to the owners of multi-national |
|
corporations who finance campaigns for candidates from both parties. That way, SCOTUS can rule that laws passed that are favorable to the Corporatists will not be ruled unconstitutional.

4. No, she's a part of the corporatist plan. He never intended to... |
|
...do anything for the fundies, and he hasn't. She's a corporate lawyer with a corporate agenda. That's been the plan all along. And it doesn't hurt that she'd be able to pull strings once he gets indicted too.

6. The fundies are finding out that BUSHCO has no ideology, just power lust |
|
so they can unleash their greed. The whole ideology thing was a ruse to get the kool aid crowd mobilized. Zealots are not much fun, but they are persistent.

7. I believe she was a spite nominee... |
|
Junior is driven by very primal motives.
He's an unhealed alcoholic and the son of psychopaths.
We all understand how deep his intellect goes.
He was damn ticked when the nation forced the removal of "Brownie", his good buddy from way-back-when.
He nominated her out of revenge. Yes, she's a fundie. Yes, she's a corporatist. However, so are hundreds of experienced judges who have a longstanding conservative track record. The filibuster deal pretty much ensures that nominating a conservative isn't enough for the Dems to cause a stalemate.
Junior could have had any hard-line conservative he wanted. He has the votes.
He chose this ridiculous nominee because he's showing the world that he doesn't give a rip what people say about him--and he'll do whatever he damn well pleases.
The good news is...Junior is showing his true colors. He sold out his base, just as much as he pissed off the left--with this nominee. He hates everyone right now. The man has lost it.
Tonight, Michael Savage (a foul-mouthed, liberal-hating, Bush-supporting conservative) pounded Junior on Harriet. Savage said that Junior's actions are similar to Savage nominating his dog "Snowy" because he's nice and he trusts him. He is MAD AS HELL, and he talked about how Junior has totally betrayed conservatives.
Savage said that conservatives have put up with a great deal from this pResident, because everyone assumed he would make things ok by nominating a conservative(s) to the bench. Savage said that they all forgave Junior when they found out they were lied to about WMD, and they continued support for Junior because of these SC nominees. He's totally disgusted with Bush. He compared the nomination of Harriet to a historical move in which a Roman nominated his horse to the Senate, because he had such contempt for the people in it. Savage said Bush did the same thing, and this was a revenge nomination.
I totally agree.

8. I cannot get over that last paragraph. |
|
As I read it, Republicans will sell their souls to get what they want. To accept so much from Bush and Cheney, because they thought the big pay-off was this Supreme Court Justice...? How much did they compromise? Did they willingly participate in stolen elections to do it?

It is disgusting what they endured--because the SC carrot was dangling in the future.
I think the majority of Bush's base turned a blind eye to everything. Junior's supporters read the same newspapers and hear the same horrendous stories that we do. They know damn well that there was funny business in the 04 election. They understand that we are torturing people on a routine basis. They know that Guantanamo is a repulsive construct. They know that this administration marketeered its way into Iraq by lying. They know Iraq is a failure. They know Junior has mortgaged our future with back-breaking debt.
And on and on...
The Fundies, who vote in extraordinarily high numbers--held out hope that their Christian man help them implement their social-conservative agenda (ban gay marriage, abortion banned, allow the Ten Commandments in public places, etc). He's failed to act on ANY of their issues.
Their hope was the nominations to the SC. As Savage said, people kept wondering when Bush was going to cater to his base, and party heads kept whispering---just wait until he nominates these judges.
That time has come--and they can see that the well is empty and that they've been duped.
Maybe, just maybe--Junior's base and the liberals will be united--in their hatred for Junior.
Junior has such contempt for anyone who has expectations of him. It's odd. It's almost as if he's a child--doing the exact opposite of what his parents expect of him, "I'll show you!! You want me to get good grades? I'll practically flunk out that'll show you who's in control!".
What a dysfunctional bastard.
