anyone know what those yellow 'Eyes On Jesus" yard signs are all about?

please tell it's not some kind of snoopy neighbor thing. i've seen these yard signs for like a year now. googled. nothing. they are yellow and in harsh black lettering say"

EYES on JESUS

it seems so Crying of Lot 49.

they're really effective, too b/c i seem to see them everywhere -- prolly b/c the "bio-hazard" aesthetic is such a jarring visual language to use for something holy. like, "JESUS next 500 feet.

i guess i'm asking because i need to track down the supplier and offer to re-design the signs. i'd do it for free. i see lambs and chubby angels...

but seriously -- this isn't some kind of Christian neighborhood watch program is it?

My guess is that it means caution like its what you said a christian neighbor hood watch. Like i keep telling people. It's pro life month and the fundies are out in force and are getting there message out any way they can.

I dunno, haven't seen them - folks wouldn't do that here in the evil big city (may it be destroyed by natural disaster like all evil big cities, amen). Although my downstairs neighbor has a big brass doorknocker with some bible verse etched into it. But no, not the same thing.

To me it sounds like "eyes front." Front and center, Mister. Keep your eyes where they're s'posed to be, don't get distracted. I got my eyes on Jesus and nothing else matters, bad news I'm not listening lalalalalala.

it seems like part of the thought is missing.

...here in Okeechobee county (where I STILL have yet to meet ONE person who supports DUH-bya!) ya got these 10 COMMANDMENT signs sporatically placed. I'm like, why?! Anyone NOT know the 10 Commandments by now?! Oddly enough, I haven't seen many of them lately, I guess the fundies gave up on that one! Maybe the new thing IS the yellow 'Eyes On Jesus"!
I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for that one...

you might be seeing these soon. it's totally the same thing: waxed corrogated board on wire frame. vinyl lettering looking.

your post reminds me... hubby has a motorcycle and rides rural roads whenever he gets a chance which isn't often... but before the election he did a lot of rides north of nashville up thru clarksville and into kentucky. that's 101st Airbourne county -- Clarksville. he reported every weekend that he say more Kerry signs out there in the country than in our little blue enclave on Nashville's east shore.

interestingly -- that's the same sort of area you'll find the EYES on JESUS signs now. rural, pretty, large tracts of land.

interesting, but prolly not the same houses.
