9. More about Take Back The Media and what we're doing

We're hoping to be able to raise enough funds to relaunch and upgrade our website and add more Flash animations and Actions to Take Back The Media as well - the features that put us on the map in the first place!

In our well-intentioned efforts moving our website into a "content management system" in early 2003, we ended up making the site more restrictive with an overall negative effect on the site and it's traffic and effectiveness.

Some of the thoughts we've been having about TBTM is to redesign the site to feature the Flash Animations and other media more up-front and center and get away from a primary focus of being a blog.

We've been thinking about redoing the blog end to include better user features and interaction;
- a mechanism for community interaction and work on specific Media actions like our highly successful Rush Limbaugh boycott
- the ability for individuals to post individual actions/journals
- database tracking and administration for actions, say if we did another Rush Limbaugh boycott, we could put together a searchable database of advertisers by city, state, or radio station

And of course, we'd love to bring you brand new Flash animations and film, too...

Consider this an open forum: what would you like to see Take Back The Media do? What kinds of features? What kinds of actions?

Find the voices who speak for us and support them. I think that part of our new Democratic Progressive Movement should be Defining our OWN MEDIA...and if we can take back the House and Senate in '06 then we need to make sure we have "replacement Media" out there to push OUR Causes and Bringing Back the "Fairness Doctrine" (that Reagan took away and promoting "Alternative Media" should be our FIRST CAUSE.
Without strong Democratic Media to shove up against the Right Wing Domination the Repugs will continue in the "Rove Mode" whether Rove, DeLay and their gang get indicted or not...their "Machine" and back up boys are still going to be there slinging dirt at us when their handlers are either in jail or pardoned (God forbid..a pardon).

Supporting the products of our own folks with the Holiday Season coming up is a great way to start!

"Take Back the Media" was out there for us after 2000 Selection when there were so few voices we could count on for support. Just like DU their flash films kept so many of us who felt so alone in those times out there working to get rid of the Chimp and expose the corruption and this "Invasion and Occupation" of a country that we were lied into war with. This new DVD sounds like a great way to keep educating folks and to keep pushing our "OWN" Perspective of what's been going on with the Bush Crime family.

It should be coordinated with a grassroots media campaign to bring the auction to the attention of the media. They seem to love doing stories about interesting or controversial eBay auctions. It could be a dutch auction and you could start a new one each time the old one closes. Maybe you could charge $25.00 and give $5.00 of each sale to Katrina and Rita victims (I'm not sure about eBay's rules on charity auctions). This would increase your publicity and bring in money for two good causes. The issues are linked. Katrina relief was apparently hampered by the absence of so many national guard due to the war.

And yes, I have been slaving over this for a year, to the detriment of my site and my flash work - starting to wonder if I should just go exercise some of my other talents, not a bad painter, have about 50 songs I could record with a lead guitarist that's like a guitar god to me available right now, always wanted to write a book, have a screenplay that needs some more work, an actual FILM for theater release that I've been mulling over (a CLERKS sort of film)..

Got a lot of things I'd rather be doing to promote MYSELF and possibly get a LOT Of money..

it seems like these are all the folks I have known a long time, wonder why newbies don't seem interested in a 2 DVD set of the Chronology of Plamegate?

It seems like the whole board is talking about pretty much nothing else, and here are the GOODS on all these guys, Rove, Bolton, Rice, Cheney, Libby, Feith, Fietz, Miller, Novak, Russert, and tons more..

There is info in this DVD set that will blow minds and NONE of it has even a mere whiff of tin foil to it, that's why I've been researching the subject for a year, it's why I flew to DC and filmed the Downing Street Minutes Hearing, I knew they were connected with the Plame outing at the HIP - these things only Prove each other, and that's what Rove, Bush Cheney and Co and so worried about..

Looks like Rove has dropped 20 lbs, Cheney's been sick, and Bush has only aged in the last year or so, no doubt about it, they are SCARED.

And I've got it all in brilliant, moving COLOR :)

I do, and I'm impressed.. all the good old DUrs I remember who watched with glee (we'd get 3 or 4 hundred hitting our site the minute I'd put up my latest flash political animation) when I posted the latest work - like "Bush is Not a Nazi - So Stop Saying That"

Which later ended up on Drudge who falsely (and stupidly) claimed that *I* was one of the MoveOn entries who compared Bush to Hitler..

Even tho my ARMY OF ONE was one of 14 out of 1500 entries chosen by MoveOn for their "Bush in 30 Seconds" contest, Drudge was OFF BY TWO YEARS, hilarious, what a schmuck.. DRUDGE, get rid of the Hat, you don't look like anybody cool who's ever worn a fedora, you just look like a dick in a hat :)

So after Drudge linked to Takebackthemedia.com and we went to NYC and watched my ARMY OF ONE on the big screen at the Gala MoveOn event, and we didn't win, but that was cool, that night I left to go on the Joe Scarborough show on MSNBC who showed my ARMY OF ONE and the winning entry (done by PROS btw) - then Joe (who's show I'd been on before and who then had threatened to turn off our microphones for misbehavior) WAS NICE TO ME..

Really pissed me off because I was expecting that he invited me on the show to call me out on the Bush/Hitler thing, which was going to be really funny cos all I had to say was - "That was created TWO YEARS AGO you idiot.."

THEN I had it all planned out, figuring that statement would fluster him I was going to pull out a PACIFIER I had bought in NYC that was in my pocket - hold it up for the camera to see and say, "Hey Joe, I have something for you and all those other whining, crying Republicans, like Gillespie and Melman - you know where to STICK THIS.."

Then sit back and see what happened :)

But, like I said, Joe was NICE to me and it really pissed me off..

So there's a "backstage" story from Takebackthemedia.com -- I've got a lot of those, maybe I should write a book about Taking Back the Media MY WAY :)

If I had a lot of money the right wing would not be happy with the amount of head f*cking I would do to them, it's a skill I was born with and only use it on evil people.. We have a car you can have if you know someone in California who can throw a battery in it and inflate the tires, and get it to you..

Honda Civic, 1991 hatchback, called a "gross Polluter" by California standards but would pass fine in the south, no smoke nothing, just rules in Cal.. we thought about shipping it over to Hawaii, but if YOU wanted it, you could have it.. it's in storage anyway, and we'd save on fees and help you at the same time :)

If we get a big enough response to the film, we'll be donating to you as well :)

I hope you are okay, of all the people to get slammed by nature or Bush's lack of regard for the citizens YOU are one of the last I'd want to see screwed..

I'd appreciate it, tho we have some really incredible investigative reporting going on right here at the DU there are many on Blogs and Radio/TV, etc that REALLY DO NOT have a clue as to how deep this goes, how many players there are, how much damage was done to our country..

So instead of me trickling out BREAKING FROM TAKEBACKTHEMEDIA.COM news that leads to my site (like that Cheney is somehow involved and is actually part of the WHIG group, when there are TONS of photos that show that fact alone, so it's NOT NEWS, etc) I have sat down and spent the year researching and put it all in ORDER, a Chronology to make it easier to understand, and then I added clips to PROVE what has or has not happened..

I've got the Downing Street Minutes entertwined throughout (remember I flew from Hawaii to DC to cover that Hearing because at the time no one thought the Media was going to cover it, only maybe CSPAN 3) as the Plame outing and DSM are JOINED at the Hip, each proves the other..

I've got Joe Wilson REFUTING nearly ALL of the Republican Talking Points, all kinds of goodies, with some Jon Stewart tossed in here and there for yucks to keep it FUN and entertaining..

You may go through a lot of popcorn with this 2 DVD set, but you'll know what the hell happened when you're done (then you can hear our cover of Secret Agent Man, as was mentioned in the Editor & Publisher online edition pointed out by MaDem, a favored poster :) )
