4. Do not give one thin dime either to an Assembly of God, or

a Southern Baptist or a church with the name 'Calvary' on it, please.

It is my personal mission, as a PFLAGer (www.pflag.org), to see to it that no progressive gives another dime to the anti-gay, anti-feminist yahoos above.

HeeHee!

I came up with the following ... for my friends:

To find the perfect faith/church/denomination/belief-system for you, a very helpful test:

(take the Belief-o-Matic Test)

My list of Progressive Churches: questions about them can be answered at the following websites.

Church of Religious Science (focused on affirmations, positive thinking, affirmative prayer),

Episcopalian Church Main Website:

Judaism – Reconstructionist Judaism: Main website:

Metropolitan Community Churches,

Quaker – Society of Friends (peace-oriented),

United Church of Christ (Rev. Barry Lynn, J.D., of Americans United for Separation of Church and State is ordained through these fine folks; they did the great welcoming commercial),

Unitarian-Universalist,

Peace,

Maat (I'm sure others can add great ones).

If Rove gets indicted, I'll be going to church this Sunday, for sure!

I'm a Religious Scientist; Husband is a Pastafarian.

5. whoo - assembly of god
my brother/ sil belong. send their kids to 'christian academy'.

i took a look at the curriculum and it is weird indeed.

ahhh... this 'christian' brother who took my bedridden mother for thousands of dollars.

i have not heard of their kids planning to enlist, even though their church service on 7/4 was a full one flagwaving extravaganza.

6. Yep ... I guess Paul Weyrich, the architect of the current ..
strange 'conservative' movement decided to target Assembly-of-God/Pentecostal/Charismatics and Southern Baptists about decades ago.

Paul and Jan Crouch, and their kids, who are behind the shows on TBN (Trinity Broadcasting Network) are Assembly-of-God adherents.

Sorry about your mom ... and your brother.

My in-laws all moved to Oklahoma and became Southern Baptists ... Husband now does the family interfacing (scared of what I'll say).

Heard that Paul and Jan co-founded the original operation with Tami Faye et al (true or untrue)?

Are you in Orange County, living near my sister?

10. Exactly.
I grew up there - with the most rabidly rightwing of the rightwing. They always led TWO lives - a facade for society, and the weird (kinky) private life.

My sis (41) still lives in the family property down there. SHE is a bigtime progressive, and claims that there are many more progressives down there than people think.

I'm 47, lived in SoCal my entire life - NEVER had the horror (pleasure?) of looking at that dang building (will have to ask Sis about it). My sissie works in Anaheim.

11. i'm surprised at the editorials from the OC Register
they stated the other day that they had been against the war from the start.

did you see the thread about Assembly of God in another state having their youth swallow live goldfish? Their own 'fear factor'. This is the church my fundie brother and sil ( Hawaii ) belong to. All he could talk about once was 'gay marriage'. His two boys are hidden away in christian academy ( google their curriculum sometime - what a laugh ) and will not be bound for the ME any time soon, i'll wager.

My SILs brother is very gay, but the whole holy family is in denial about it.

btw, how many gallons of gold paint do you think went into that TBN set?
