This bird flu scare is essentially about EVOLUTION |
|
The concern is not about the avian flu becoming a pandemic as it is now, but whether or not the flu will mutate into a far more effectively spreading form. In other words, we're worried that the flu will EVOLVE into a form that better spreads.
...does this mean that Kansas will never be effected by it?

1. of course they don't believe in it |

I mean that god damed fangled idea, god did not make it, so it does not exist... and sadly I can see this argument being made by a small town health director

:spank: I, too, am an admirer of birds. :loveya:
As a vegetarian I have protested the mistreatment of our feathered friends and find my lack of taste in this instance inexcusable.
Somehow I just couldn't resist making the connection to bird flu. I guess my judgment flew the coup. :silly:
:hi: My best to you and yours.

7. The very essence of existence is that it is a never ending |
|
array of "evolutions", events that continue to unfold in response to previous events. Try to think of anything that isn't an event. You can't. OK you say. Here's an example of something that isn't an event, "a house", which is referred to as a noun. Yet a house is an ever changing event starting far before the object appeared to be simply a inactive noun. Say it was constructed from wood. The trees evolved, had cutting events, transportation, sawing and nailing events. And the house was considered to be finished, every component in the house, each events within themselves continued to interact with all of the others. The wood, for example, never stopped evolving from what it had been while still a tree, to non-living wood if some age, absorbing moisture, losing it, twisting, and other things. The roof, with it's particular exposure to the elements never stopped evolving. Within 10 years the roofing will have to be replaced as it has evolved to the point of being non functional for roofing purposes. I hope you follow what I'm saying. I mean that nothing is static, nothing. And nothing could be more ridiculous than to deny the non-existence of Evolution. Darwin's publication barely showed the tip of the iceberg.
You are most correct in your agreement with scientists who fear the probable evolving of the flu virus. Just another example of the obvious.

I pointed out this fact in a similar post - in fact ALL of these pandemic mutations happen where species that share certain SIMILAR genetic code are kept in close quarters - ie, it originates in the chicken (fast life cycle - lots of mutations) the more successful ones transfer to pigs which act like incubation factories & also are able to create mutations that will survive in people due to the similarities between pigs & human genetic code. It's a fascinating process. In fact, they think they have traced the WWI era pandemic to a camp in France where humans, chickens and pigs all cohabited for an extended period of time.

11. Doctors and Scientists worried about creationists... |
|
...need to start using the E-word in connection with this and other flu strains. They need to say it loud and often until the nimrods get the message that evolution is at work right here and right now.
