Also, like mid-to-late afternoon Oct. 6th, Sen. Byron Dorgan gave a really fabulous, great speech on the floor of the Senate, on C-SPAN2, on huge gas and oil profits and price-gouging which started before the hurricanes hit, on mergers, a proposal for a Windfall or Excess Profits Tax, to be returned to consumers, how there is no such thing as a "free market" in the oil industry, but only a closed system of price-setting by OPEC, etc., how the profits of refiners go up and up to record levels, yet they shut down operations and lower the supply (why is that not treason?), etc., etc. A great speech--I wish I had a transcript of it.
