El Baradei wins Nobel Peace Prize - SLAP IN THE FACE TO BUSH
Edited on Fri Oct-07-05 07:36 AM by FLDem5
http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=2055452005

This is the man who issued a report saying:

http://www.un.org/News/dh/iraq/elbaradei27jan03.htm
<snip>
"Finally, we have urged Iraq once again to increase the degree of its co-operation with the inspection process. In support of the IAEA inspections to date, the Iraqi authorities have provided access to all facilities visited — including presidential compounds and private residences — without conditions and without delay. The Iraqi authorities also have been co-operative in making available additional original documentation, in response to requests by IAEA inspectors"

and
<snip>
"To conclude: we have to date found no evidence that Iraq has revived its nuclear weapons programme since the elimination of the programme in the 1990s. However, our work is steadily progressing and should be allowed to run its natural course. With our verification system now in place, barring exceptional circumstances, and provided there is sustained proactive cooperation by Iraq, we should be able within the next few months to provide credible assurance that Iraq has no nuclear weapons programme. These few months would be a valuable investment in peace because they could help us avoid a war. We trust that we will continue to have your support as we make every effort to verify Iraq’s nuclear disarmament through peaceful means, and to demonstrate that the inspection process can and does work, as a central feature of the international nuclear arms control regime."

SLAP!! Thank you Nobel Committee - the truth will always come out - you can't fool all the people all the time.

1. That's great...
They're talking about it now on Democracy Now! Lots of analysts talking about BushCo's efforts to discredit him.

8. LOL
The only people who are whining about the recipients are US Right wingers and Iranian Hardliners, who knew they had so much in common.

and Iranian hardliners don´t want attention drawn to their nuclear ambitions.

As regard to Bush, it is quite difficult to bomb your way to a peace prize.

16. Funny how that works
"I will kill everyone who disagrees with me, so that there will be peace"

Somehow, that just doesn't cut it...

3. I was rooting for Bono but this is actually even better
The Bono thing was just because I grew up (not too much younger than him) with U2 so it would have been sorta like a guy I went to high school with winning the Nobel Peace Prize.

THIS however is a real slap in Bush's face.

4. bushco must be feeling pretty rough about now. They've lost the
ability to bluster, bluff, and bully their way through everything. I wonder how the petulant cheerleader feels right about now knowing that the world doesn't think of him as some kind of god-like hero, a saviour if you will, but as an incompetent lying crook who went AWOL when it was his turn to step up to the plate.

6. I am giddy over the fact that the man Bush called a liar, and went
on to START A WAR because he didn't heed his advice - is going down in history as having the support of the rest of the world.
