Nerves jangled as threat disrupts N.Y. commute
Police briefly close part of train station even as feds downplay dangers

NEW YORK - Police briefly sealed off part of Pennsylvania Station Friday when a soda can oozing a green liquid sparked a scare a day after officials warned of a possible attack on the city’s subway system.

Less than two hours after the scare began, the station was back to normal.

“It was a soda can with a green liquid bubbling out, but it doesn’t seem to be anything,” one Amtrak police officer on the scene told reporters. The officer said the liquid was caustic.

4. Well, if it was bubbling over with corrosive fluid, that's kinda weird.
But then, Coke is considered corrosive. I'm sure Mountain Dew is as well.

People are paranoid. This is what happens when you cry wolf all the time...the less perceptive among us start jumping at their own shadows.

7. Put a tooth in a can of Mountain Dew. Leave it there for a week.
You'll see how caustic it is.
