Zod Trivia:

The original version of Superman II had Zod giving his world domination speech from atop the Washington Monument (not the English countryside which doubled as East Houston, Idaho).

70% of Superman II was filmed along with the first film by Director Richard Donner. The project was taken away from him by producers who wanted the franchise to go more in a comedy direction.

It was then given to replacement Director Richard Lester, who then refilmed many of Donner's scenes on the cheap and then took credit for the 30% of Donner's footage that remained in the film.

But have no fear film purists! A movement is underway to get Donner's original version restored on DVD in time for the Superman Returns movie in 2006.

We may see Marlon Brando's scenes restored to Superman II after all.
