The House is debating that the gulf states' citizens should repay!
Can you believe this? They are debating a bill that says the people in the gulf states should repay the money the federal gov't is "loaning" to them to rebuild. The dems I have heard are on fire. One Rep said that we are not asking Iraq to pay us back and another Rep said that we forgave the debts from Eastern Europe and other Third World countries because we knew they would never be able to repay us. These people in the gulf states also will be unable to pay back the loans, so why shouldn't they have their loans forgiven too? These people have lost EVERYTHING and have no jobs. Besides, 90% of the jobs for rebuilding are going to those outside the affected area. (Read: Halliburton) How much lower does this country have to go before there is rebellion??

9. Welp, in Mississippi's case

and to a lesser extent, parts of Louisiana, this is just a matter of the chickens coming home to roost. People there have every reason to know what far right policies that they repeatedly vote for are- and now that they're getting the backhand of them, I suspect that they don't like it very much.

Personally, I have trouble feeling sorry for some of them (not all- by any means)- because in fact there are likely a good many individuals who would be mouthing the same tune if a disaster happened to, say, California or Oregon.

10. How about we make the Iraq money a loan too?
Oh wait, we already tried that. Republicans didn't want it then, but of course they do now! Why am I not surprised?
