A little bit of Hurricane GOOD NEWS
For the first time in almost two months I was able to take my wonderful wife out for a meal today. We had to drive 60+ miles north to Hattiesburg to pig out. Southbound on I-59 were FEMA trailors, lots of them heading to I-10 west to New Orleans and I-10 east to Gulfport/Biloxi and the gulf coast area; northbound were electrical repair trucks going home after completing their greatly appreciated jobs. Humongous trash trucks are lined up all over the place hauling off downed trees. We're gonna be just fine.

2. THANK YOU
I had Ribeye steak at Chili's, the wife had Chicken Pasta Salad. It was nice to sit down and eat away from home. Its the little things that perk you up and give you that rev to tackle those piles still stacked up in the back yard. Thanks for asking.

4. It's great to hear you're hanging in there, BOSS...
And I'll bet it DOES feel good to take your wife out to eat--even if you had to go almost sixty miles to do it!:wow:

Shoot, I thought it felt good to take Jane out to eat two days after Ophelia...hard to imagine what you all have been through.

Good to hear about those trailers...thank goodness people are actually getting some sort of roof--their own roof--over their heads!

B-)

6. I feel like Mary Tyler Moore
I'm gonna throw my hat in the air and shout, We're gonna make it after all. The folks getting trailors are very appreciative but there are so many of them. Our damage is irrelevant compared to our neighbors to the south. The logistics was just tough, we couldn't get anywhere or go anywhere. I'm gonna tackle my little piddling problems tomorrow. Anything you can do to get cool air to come your way, make it happen. Thanks for the sentiments.

7. 21-23 APRIL 2006 - Mark your calendar
THE FRENCH QUARTER FESTIVAL. I can't guarantee, but that's the scheduled dates and so much work is being done in and around the city that I think it may come off. I greatly appreciate your post.

8. Thanks for the reports, Boss.
Good to hear from you .. the more the better. How fares Picayune now (I think that is where you are)? Do they make those vile cigarettes (Picayunes) there? My college big-band (the Auburn Knights) drove to Biloxi for a gig in 1967, and the four of us in the car with the equipment trailer smoked pack after pack of Picayunes. The point was to do so without rolling down the windows. Good thing we had 24 hours to recover for the gig. We were four sick suckers.

9. Hello Demotex
Picayune will profit incredibly from the hurricane. Pre Katrina population - 13,000. Current population - 40,000. And seemingly everyone has two cars and they drive them simultaneously. I'm sure the city fathers are happy about the tax revenue. For the record, we live outside the city but are amply effected by the current growth.

Were you on Highway 90 in 67? I'm not familiar with Picayune Cigarettes. I maintain my familiarity with Budweiser. As Barbra Streisand would opine - Memories!

11. Highway 90 from Mobile, maybe. Maybe I-10. I've driven both.
I'm originally from Mobile. But, we had come down from Auburn. I think that, other than the driver, Budweiser was involved with the Picayune cigarette fiasco too. God, was I sick after that ride.
