Rove needs an insider to bail his arse out on final appeal to SCOTUS. |
|
That's why Miers is the nominee. The rightwingnuts who have been grooming and preparing their incubi justices for 4 decades will just have to eat shit. They will learn that abortions are irrelevant in the neocon grand sceme of things. The goal of absolute power and world control, to the extent this is possible, rule supreme with this cabal.

1. How would her one vote do that? |
|
Bush could always pardon Rove before anything could make it's way to the Supreme Court. They were just too clever in thinking that she fit the same model as Roberts and that everyone would fall in line as they had with him, and Bush liked the idea because she was his pal. No, I doubt some long term strategy for saving Rove played a role here. Their reasons for choosing her were immediate political expediency, stupidity and hubris.

3. * couldn't pardon her without it looking like complete corruption. |

And that would destroy Jeb's future presidential chances I could be wrong (would be far from the first time), but this is my intuition. Something stinks in Denmark.

procedurally, how having one justice on the supreme court would necessarily save Rove. If he is indicted his career may be over. If he is convicted it is most certainly over, even if it were to be overturned on appeal. To get to the Supreme Court, Rove would have had to have been convicted at a trail, then appealed to the DC Circuit and then, from there, the losing party would have to petition for cert and have the Supreme Court agree to hear the case and THEN put together at least 5 justices to rule Rove's way on whatever issue was raised in the case that warranted consideration by the Supreme Court. And that would be at least 2-3 years down the road from now, if not longer. I think you are giving them too much credit as evil geniuses.

5. I admittedly don't know what is coming down the in terms of indictments. |
|
I also know zilch about law. But something is weird when * defies his party's base and puts a crony in SCOTUS. I feel they are trying to protect themselves in every way they can.

2. Thought at first she might be a stalking horse. |
|
But with the shit heading for the far RE: Plame outing, am thinking she might be a pawn in a pissing contest between Rove and Cheney.
Rove doesn't strike one and a true neocon believer. He plays with power to get power. He does what will work, ideology be damned.
Yep, he needs a get outta jail card. Miers is HIS pick. She will follow orders, from bush.

6. * and the repubs have commited numerous treasonous crimes. |

From stealing elections, lying to Congress and the people to invade a defenseless country, war crimes that may involve the international court, and hundreds more. You can bet some of this may get to a supreme court if the Democrats or the people can make it happen. That is what she will be doing. Saving his ass.

7. I think it's a lot simpler. |

I don't put much faith in the idea that she would be the salvation on the bench if any of the inner core gets convicted. The issues that would kick the case up have to be constitutional ones. We know the Prez. can pardon pretty much any miscreant he wants. Instead, the power card for My Little Crony is that she has no paper trail, she's a female, there is evidence that she has said some pro-gay stuff--but doesn't go too far, mind you. She's been "pro" minority when she was on the Dallas City Council. She exemplifies those all-American values of hard work--much like C*ndi, right? And in the background (for the neocons and Dems) is the idea that Gonzales could be the back-up plan.
