Why is Ann Coulter allowed to lie about what the liberal researchers

said regarding the correlation between abortion and the crime rate? If I remember correctly, when this first came out about a year or two ago, Bill O'Reilly reported it on his O'Reilly factor and seemed to think it was a positive finding. The conclusion, from what I remember, was that from the time that abortion was made legal, the crime rate appeared to go down.

Then everybody forgot about it until Bennett slipped up and let his conservative roots show when he extrapolated and said that crime would go down if all black babies were aborted. The racist implication, which was never stated in the original study, was that blacks are innately inclined to commit crime. That was all Bennett's doing.

Then Ann Coulter jumps into this mess and says that it's the Liberals who reached that conclusion, not Bennett. WTF? Have I stated this progression correctly? If not, someone please feel free to correct me. You can see the Ann Coutler segment with Bill Maher on crooks and liars.

11. the study had NOTHING to do with race or liberals

it was by a prize winning economist. The crime rate went down 20 years after Roe v Wade. He compared the results to Romania where 20 years after making abortion AND birth control illegal, the crime rate skyrocketed. There were other facts he based his conclusion on.

The study has been out for some time but is being talked about lately because it was included in the best selling book, Freakonomics. The book is a "collection" of many of Leavitt's (the econmist) conclusions. If you read the whole book, not just this one study, there is no way to conclude he's a lefty. Some of his conclusions do not support liberal "ideals". (Like what makes for kids who do well in school. He concludes its not what you do but who you are.)

Read the book. It's short and easy to read and fascinating.

Crimes are committed by all by people of all races so pick one and kill all the babies....crime would go down..... The part missing in Bennett's approach is his kill would be a crime so crime would not go down but rise. Bennett is foolish on many levels. The original study was comparing two separate statistics and drawing a conclusion that may or may not be related but is none the less interesting and provocative.
