Harriet Miers May Not Even Make It Through Committee |
|
If all the Dems hold together and vote against her, there would only have to be one Repub vote (Brownback, Sessions?) to join them and she's finished.
This nomination lives or dies in the Judiciary Committee. If it makes it out to the floor she will get confirmed.

It could be the other way around |
|
With the GOP doing most of the NO voting. I say let them do the heavy lifting, and demonstrate to America the fracture in their party...

3. because they're all a bit more liberal than Harry Reid |
|
And if they decide they want to doom this nomination, it's within their power to do so, if they can pick off one Republican vote.
The only Dem on the Judiciary Committee who could possibly be a problem would be Kohl.

6. Tie votes do not necessarily send nominations to the floor |
|
They would have to go "without recommendation," which would be a disaster for Bush.
And there are at least two Republicans seriously thinking about voting against her. Coburn and Brownback.

eat each other. If we defeat her in committee, Republicans in the senate don't have to go on record as being either for or against. I think we could play this out as long as its working to our advantage.
Ms Miers is the weakest possible nominee Bush could ever give us....Her tetstimony is gonna be priceless. I can't wiat for the Republican grandstanding.

8. I gotta admit, I'm enjoying watching them deconstruct. |

Folks, we should count our blessings on this one. I think she may be a terrible justice, but probably not as harmful as a real rightwing judge. This has split the far right from Bush. He's screwed up his position with the base, and if they don't turn out next year, WE WIN!!
I'm encouraged and believe we can take the House back. That is what we should be uniting behind.

Unlike Bolton, she may get recalled.
